Moreover, they only allowed Lillian to be on camera for a few minutes. The interview was scheduled for that day.
Before leaving, Camila called Isabella to let her know she was on her way to pick up Lillian. But Isabella redirected her. "The interview just wrapped up. A friend invited us to dinner, so we're about to head out. Let's meet at The Gilded Fork."
"Okay," Camila agreed and told the driver to change course. The restaurant wasn't far from the Institute, only a fifteen-minute drive. As she got out of the car, she was surprised to see Jordan Smith waiting outside. An involuntary frown creased her brow, and irritation immediately surfaced. She couldn't understand why he was here. He was impossible to get rid of, like a stubborn stain.
Jordan, however, seemed to have been expecting her. He approached as soon as he saw her, his tone gentle despite her cold expression. "I haven't seen Lillian in days. I heard she was having dinner here tonight, so I thought I'd come by and see if I could catch a glimpse of her. Have you eaten? I've booked a table. Why don't you join me? Lillian and the others just went in; they probably won't be out for a while."
Camila glanced at her phone and saw a new message from Isabella: "Something came up last minute. We probably won't be done until around eight. Sorry, you'll have to wait a bit longer."
She couldn't argue with that, but she had no desire to be anywhere near Jordan Smith. She put her phone away and turned to leave.
"Camila, where are you going?" Jordan called out.
