Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 928

The force of Camila's pull sent him toppling out of his wheelchair.

"Sir!" Nathan Gates cried out in alarm, rushing forward.

Jordan looked utterly defeated, not just emotionally, but physically. A sharp, tingling numbness shot through his legs—a familiar prelude to an attack of his old injury.

"Sir, are you okay?" Nathan asked, trying to help him up. Jordan attempted to push himself up, but his legs were useless. The strain made the veins on his forehead pop.

Camila was momentarily stunned by the scene. In the past, she would have been frantic with worry. But now, she felt no urge to help. After her initial shock subsided, she simply watched him with a cold, detached look, a hint of something like pity in her eyes.

Jordan saw it. He met her gaze, and a complex mix of emotions churned within him. After a few seconds, he asked in a hoarse voice, "Camila, can you help me?"

Her answer was an action. She took a step back, putting more distance between them. Her words were as cold and merciless as her gaze. "No. Jordan... your legs could have healed. Isn't this outcome what you wanted all along? I spent years, so much effort, trying to fix them, and you threw it all away. Since you made that choice, you have no right to ask me for anything. I won't even help you up."

Leaving him there, she shut her car door, deciding not to wait inside. She wouldn't give him another chance to bother her. Instead, she'd go into the restaurant, order a meal, and wait for Lillian and the others.

As if on cue, her phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Dennis. "I ordered some of your favorite dishes in the private room. Eat first, then you can pick up Lillian and go home. Don't go hungry."
