Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 946

The little girl's sweet, sensible words could melt anyone's heart. All the unpleasantness from the previous night's dinner vanished in an instant. The elder Mr. Williams had to admit, compared to Cynthia Lee, Camila Davis was a breath of fresh air. And she came with an adorable, thoughtful great-granddaughter. He happily ate with the little girl. After dinner, he took Lillian to see the playroom. The Williams estate hadn't had one before; the elder Mr. Williams had it specially built over the past few days just for when Lillian visited. While the child and her great-grandfather were occupied, Charlotte took Camila's hand and explained what had happened at the restaurant with the Lee family. Her tone was apologetic. "I'm so sorry, Camila. We had no idea Cynthia would be so difficult. But in the end, my father-in-law did make the initial proposal, so the Williams family is partly at fault, and we couldn't be too forceful. That's why we had to take a more roundabout approach. Cynthia will probably try to contact Dennis, but please, don't misunderstand anything. Dennis's heart belongs entirely to you. As for Cynthia... I imagine after a few rejections, she'll see reality and back down." In her heart, Camila wasn't particularly worried, though she suspected getting Cynthia Lee to back down would be harder than they thought. From their few interactions, Cynthia didn't seem like the type to accept defeat gracefully. On the contrary, Camila sensed a petty streak in her. She feared that repeated rejections from Dennis wouldn't lead to acceptance, but to resentment. Of course, Camila wasn't afraid of Cynthia. Her relationship with Dennis was stable and could withstand any test. Cynthia couldn't cause any real trouble. Seeing Camila's calm demeanor, Charlotte felt a wave of relief and growing affection for the young woman. Composed, sensible, and drama-free—it was no wonder Dennis loved her. Lillian adored the playroom her great-grandfather had prepared and spent a long time there. By the time she emerged, it was getting late. Seeing the little girl start to yawn, Camila prepared to take her home. But before she could say anything, the Williams elders intervened. "You're not going anywhere tonight. It's too late for you to be driving alone." "That's right, Camila," Audrey added. "You have to be at the institute early tomorrow. The drive back will take forever, you won't get any rest. Besides, Lillian is already half-asleep. Just stay here. We had a room made up for you before you even arrived." Audrey simply linked her arm through Camila's. "Come on, don't be a stranger! I'll take you to Ethan's room. You've never even seen it!" She playfully pulled Camila along. Unable to refuse their kindness, Camila agreed to stay. "But I didn't bring any clothes or toiletries... it might be a bit inconvenient." Audrey just grinned. "Don't worry, we've got everything covered. It's all been taken care of!" She led Camila into her brother's room. The cool, muted tones perfectly matched Dennis's style. Audrey then guided her to the walk-in closet. When she opened the doors, Camila was stunned to see it stocked with clothes in her size. The vanity was lined with complete sets of skincare and makeup, and several jewelry boxes were displayed on top. Audrey opened one for her. "Take a look. Do you like them?" Camila gasped. The box was filled with an assortment of jewelry—pearls, gemstones, diamonds, jade, in every imaginable style. She was shocked. "Are all of these for me? There are so many! This is far too valuable!"
