The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 146

Chapter 146

Vanessa POV

We arrived at the restaurant, shocked to find it was one of the most expensive places in town. His parents were already seated at a table in the back, enjoying wine. On the table sat rolls, butter, breadsticks, a plate of mixed vegetables, and other snacks. The abundance surprised me. Next, I looked at the menu-the prices were outrageous, even a simple salad was twenty dollars. Alfred then whispered in

my ear.

Pick anything you want to eat.”

Have you seen the prices?”

“It’s OK, little one.”

I was shocked he was fine with me ordering anything. As I studied the menu, a woman appeared in a short dress, breasts almost spilling

out. She kissed Alfred on the lips. Angry and jealous, I slapped her. Alfred told her I was his mate and she needed to leave. She screamed

about being supposed to be the Luna and his first love. Was it true? She ran out; I followed, not caring about the freezing rain. He never

said someone would try to take him. I stood under a tree when Monica approached me.

“I’m sorry for making a scene,

Monica, I’m your Luna and Alfred’s wife. You will show me respect.”

She then bowed her head and said.

Yes, Luna.”

I did not see the knife in her right hand. She tried to stab me; I grabbed her hand, and the knife ended up in my leg. My hand had a small cut. I fell to the ground in the freezing rain, starting to lose consciousness, faintly hearing Alfred’s voice. Later, I woke up in the hospital under a heating blanket. My leg throbbed from the stab wound. Alfred rested his head at the end of the bed. I stared; he looked so handsome. He put his hand on my leg, gently rubbing the uninjured one. I pulled it back, and he jumped up.

“You’re awake.”

“I’m fine.”

“I’m a werewolf, why the hell am I in the hospital again?”

I was pissed to be in the hospital again. I hated it, but tried to make the most of things. I got off the bed and went to Junior’s room. Alfred chased after me, yelling that I needed to stay in bed, but I ignored him until he caught up and picked me up over his shoulder.

You stubborn brat.”

I will carry you back to our house.”

I want to see Junior for a bit.”

He sat me down on a chair in Junior’s room. Then he brought Junior to me. We sat for a while holding Junior and feeding him. Then his

parents showed up.

Vanessa, I’m so pleased that you are OK.”

I am Michelle.”

She asked me not to call her your majesty. We left, and Alfred carried me home. Once there, he took me to the bedroom. It was late and I was still cold, so we skipped dinner and went straight to bed. He helped me change into pajamas, and I got comfortable. My wound was

already healed. I’ll let the doctor take out the stitches tomorrow. I decided to get ready for a jog since it was early morning.

What do you think you’re doing? I’m going to go jogging.”

No, you’re not.”

Yes, I am.”

He picked me up and threw me on the bed, determined to stop me from jogging. My leg was healed and there was no reason to stay in

bed. I waited for the doctor, who came and removed the stitches.

“Doctor, can I go running and resume my activity as normal?”

Yes, you can; however, be careful.”

Alfred scoffed at the doctor’s advice; he wanted me to stay in bed. I was tired from lack of sleep, so I went to the indoor gym. In the

middle of my third lap, Alfred showed up.

‘Little one, did you think that you were going jogging by yourself?”

“You are not going anywhere with that bitch, on the loose.”

He wasn’t in love with her, which made me happy. I stopped running, looked into his eyes, and he kissed me. We finished our run, took a shower, and then decorated the baby’s room. I started unpacking the bags; the first outfit was navy blue with ‘Mommy’s Prince’ on it. After putting everything away, I got exhausted. I asked Alfred to move the changing table and crib closer to the door from our room to Junior’s room. We hung the blocks spelling his name, and the room looked beautiful when finished. My stomach growled; we hadn’t eaten yesterday.

“You’re hungry little one.”

“Let’s go get something to eat.”

It was strange that Mac was not in the kitchen cooking.

“Where’s Mac?”
