Chapter 103
Chapter 103
Peter
“Today, we will be heading home!” Aiden announces to the pack. “I would like to thank everyone in Royal Pack for your hospitality.” He dips his head to Xander. “Thank you for allowing us to stay while my pup was injured.”
Xander smiles and nods. “Of course. Thank you for helping with the war.” Next to him is his male Bèta as Carmen left alongside their pack healer a few nights ago. The only one who seems to know the reason is the Alpha King himself and since it has nothing to do with Crimson Moon, I don’t care enough to ask.
Aiden nods and motions for us to follow. “Come along. We have a long road ahead.” He says and with that, we’re on the move. Since we have pups with us, we can move as quickly as we want so it’ll take an extra couple of days.
As we walk, my eyes wander over to Samuel who is holding our pup. After learning Hazel and Zoey were mates, hope swelled my heart. Maybe we could start anew and put the past behind us. This is the chance I’ve been waiting for.
However, we haven’t had a chance to talk. I’ve been busy with Beta duties while Samuel’s been busy with Rosalina. He and Hazel can’t be mates anymore but she’s caring for our pup too. Every time Rose calls her mommy makes my blood boil.
Lashing out won’t do a thing especially with the overprotective Zoey glaring at me at every turn. If it’s not Zoey, then it’s Daisy so I can’t win at any point. I sigh and walk with my pack my eyes always lingering on my true mate.
“Dude…” I jump at the sudden voice and look to see Aiden walking next to me. “Just talk to him already. You know the first thing you learn in a relationship is communication. You two s*ck at that and it’s the main part.” He nudges me, “The worst thing he can say is no, Peter.”
I grimace. “That’s what scares me,” I mutter under my breath. “I left him after he rejected me. He assumed I rejected him in return but… I never did. I never accepted it either.” I clench my fists. “You’re right though, man… I’m not good at communication at all.” I sigh and look away.
“Nothing is going to change if you don’t speak to each other.” Aiden points out. “You both need to listen to each other instead of fighting and making assumptions. Misunderstandings can only be fixed if you try.” He shakes his head. “Isn’t that supposed to be obvious?”
I laugh softly and shrug. “Who knows?” I look back over to Samuel noticing that he had given Rose over to Hazel. I clench my fists as Isaac whimpers in my head. He wants Victor as much as I want Samuel. “… What the hell? Why not?” I nod to Aiden. “Wish me luck.” With that, I make my way over to my
mate.
As I draw closer, his handsome features become clearer. His orange hair rustles in the breeze and his green eyes shine in the half–light. His freckles make his face pop even more and his muscles ripple under his shirt. He’s taken care of himself only making himself stronger. My mate is truly a fine and beautiful sight to behold.
Samuel’s eyes meet mine and tension fills the air. His eyes flash with unease but he doesn’t flinch away as I start walking next to him. Soon awkward silence hangs in the air and I lose my confidence.
Can talking really solve our problems? I swallow hard as anxiety creates butterflies in my stomach. What if this just makes things worse? If we can never be together, then I would like us to be friends again at least.
“… What is it that you want?” Samuel is the one who breaks the silence. “You keep staring at me like I’m a fresh piece of steak yet back then all you ever did was hurt me.” He looks to the side at me. “So what is it? Feeling regretful now?”
I swallow hard again. “I just…” I hesitate then sigh. Someone told me that… communication is the most important part of a relationship. Therefore… wish to talk… and explain myself! suppose.” Samuel wears a wary look on his face so I continue. “Will you allow me to admit my mistakes?”
Samuel frowns and looks forward again. Sure… I need to say a few things too anyway. Maybe I misunderstood some things about you. That doesn’t excuse what you did… or how much you’ve hurt me.” His voice remains steady. He’s come to terms with how things are.
“You’re right… it doesn’t…” I rub the back of my neck. “Look… the day after we… you know… mated…” Samuel pales as if it’s a painful memory. “I didn’t talk to you afterward. I pushed you away because of what happened at the party… because I was busy with Beta duties. I knew I f*ck’d “p the moment you turned tail and ran away. I want to apologize for that.”

Chapter 103
Samuel grits his teeth and looks away not saying anything. What’s going on in his head? “Then… the reason I turned to Zoey…” he snaps his head to he at me his green eyes burning with rage. “I heard what you said in the forest… when you and Daisy were alone together,”
Confusion is written all over his face. “What do you mean?” Samuel asks. Does he not remember? He seems deep in thought. “Do you mean the night you marked Zoey?”
Inod. “Right… I heard what you said… that you regretted and wished to forget that night altogether. That you couldn’t accept it… that you couldn’t accept me.” I look away. “I wanted to hurt you as much as you hurt me so… I did… and I regret it every day.”
