"Weren't you the ones who asked me to come?" Winona asked Henrietta, her expression impassive.
"You're talking nonsense! Give you an inch and you take a mile! Did I ask you to come here? Did I ask you to come here and upset us, to kill Mr. Frank with your presence?" Henrietta shrieked, lunging at Winona.
In Henrietta's mind, she had raised Winona for sixteen years. Winona didn't just owe Felicity; she owed Henrietta even more. Therefore, she felt she had every right to berate Winona however she pleased, and Winona had no right to talk back.
Xander quickly stepped between them, shielding Winona. "Mrs. Shepherd, you can't do this!"
"Mrs. Shepherd, we were the ones who called Miss Perkins here!" a doctor interjected sternly. "If you have a problem with her, please take it outside the hospital. Inside these walls, you will respect the patient's wishes. Mr. Frank asked to see Winona!"
Henrietta froze. "Mr. Frank wanted to see Winona… for what?"
Henrietta wasn't the only one who was shocked. Everyone in the room was stunned.
Especially Felicity. She stared at Frank in disbelief. "Mr. Frank, why do you want to see her? She's not a good woman. She's trying to extort a billion dollars from me…"
Before she could finish, Frank cut her off.
At that moment, Felicity and her family were just an annoyance to him. Couldn't they just let him say what he needed to say? Why did they keep interrupting and stopping him?
Frank spoke weakly to Felicity. "Be quiet!"
"Mr. Frank?"
"Be quiet!" Frank repeated, then pointed a trembling hand at Winona. "Miss… Winona, you… you're here?"
Winona let out a cold laugh. "I'm sorry, Mr. Frank, but you've been misinformed. Felicity and my ex-husband have been in a relationship for years, but Julian and I were never divorced. Their relationship was illegal and immoral. Is there anything else you want to ask?"
The thought of what Frank had done to her to protect Felicity and Julian's "happiness" made her sick. Even if Frank died right here, right now, it would have nothing to do with her.
She couldn't stand being in the same room as the entire Shepherd family for another minute.
"Mr. Frank, I never stood in the way of your niece's happiness. It was your niece who continuously violated my rights! She was the disgraceful third party in my marriage for years! She also spent a great deal of my money! And I never once did anything to wrong her. Not once! Do you understand now? If you have no more questions for me, I'll be leaving."
With that, Winona turned to go.
"Miss Perkins… I'm… I'm sorry…" Frank's voice was frail and old.
