The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 429

Felicity's announcement struck Julian and the entire Nicholson family like a bolt of lightning, leaving their ears ringing.

Julian stared at her in utter disbelief. "What did you say? Say that again."

Felicity suppressed her anxiety and offered Julian a faint smile before turning her gaze to the thousands of guests, who were frozen in shock. The sea of stunned faces included Winona, Frank, Xander, Claud Gallagher, and Mayo Johnston. In fact, nearly every person in the hall was speechless—except for the Shepherds and one other person: Yves Prescott.

Of course, Felicity wasn't paying attention to whether Yves was stunned or not. She knew that even though the crowd was silent, every single person was hanging on her next words.

Felicity truly was in a class of her own. Even in a moment like this, she remained elegant, composed, and unshakable. Her graceful smile swept over the guests before settling back on Julian.

"Darling," she cooed, "are you speechless with joy? I know how much you love children, and I know your mother does too. I knew this would make you all so happy."

"I wasn't trying to hide my two precious babies from you," she continued, her voice syrupy sweet. "I just wanted to give you and the Nicholson family the biggest possible surprise on our wedding day. My children are beautiful, well-behaved, and have received the finest education…"

Felicity refused, but he threatened to expose their past to the world. She had no choice but to take them in. She planned to find the right moment to confess everything to Julian, believing his love for her would be strong enough to accept her children, just as she had accepted and loved his child with Winona.

But before she could find that moment, Winona's damned interference created a series of disasters that soured Julian's attitude toward her. She lost her nerve to tell him. Then she discovered she was pregnant with twins. Julian was so overjoyed he would have plucked the moon from the sky for her. She thought her chance had finally come. But every time she tried to bring it up, something would get in the way.

Just when she was at her wits' end, Janetta suggested she make the announcement at the wedding. Felicity knew this would be a massive blow to Julian. But for her, it was the perfect opportunity to force Julian and the Nicholsons to accept the children with no possibility of returning them. Janetta had spent months praising her to everyone, building her up as a flawless angel who would bring the family a great surprise. If they rejected the children now, wouldn't they be slapping their own faces in public?
