The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 457

The sight of Frank was like the arrival of a savior. Felicity burst into tears, a mixture of terror and wounded pride. "Mr. Frank! Oh, Mr. Frank… our home… Winona… she came in and destroyed everything! And now she's kicking my children out! She's just jealous, cruel, and completely unhinged!"

Frank, looking pale and weak in his wheelchair, regarded Felicity with a tender, paternal affection. But when he looked at Winona, his expression was a complex blend of reproach, helplessness, and a hint of pity.

The last time he'd seen her, at Felicity and Julian's wedding, her words had nearly sent him to his grave.

Now, Frank told himself to be patient. *Winona is a victim of circumstance. Aside from her rivalry with Felicity over Mr. Nicholson, she's a good woman. I must speak with her calmly, try to soothe her anger.*

He turned to Winona, his voice gentle. "Miss Perkins, I apologize for speaking so bluntly at the wedding…"

"Mr. Frank!" Felicity interrupted, aghast.

Frank gave Felicity a kind look. "Shepherd, matters of the heart are the most difficult to resolve. In love, there is no right or wrong. You promised me you would be kind to Winona, as a way of atoning for my past mistakes. Even though she has damaged your home, can you find it in your heart to forgive her this one time?"

Felicity stared at him, speechless.

"As the saying goes, sometimes it's best to take a step back, isn't it? Just let this go. We have important business to attend to today."

The mention of their business immediately shifted Felicity's priorities. She couldn't afford to waste any more time on Winona. A single villa, even one smashed to pieces, was nothing compared to the tens of billions she was about to inherit from Mr. Frank.

"You're right, Mr. Frank," she said, her voice now sweet and compliant. "Winona has had a difficult life. I forgive her. Please, wait for me just outside the main gate. I'll go freshen up and be right out."

Winona knelt down and looked into Tiana's eyes. "Tell me, sweetheart. Are you satisfied?"

Tiana's eyes were still wet with tears. "Yes, Mommy. I am."

"And are you still scared?" Winona asked softly.

"Not when you're here, Mommy." Tiana's big, innocent eyes were fixed on her mother, full of dependence and trust. Her small hand unconsciously tightened its grip on the hem of Winona's coat.

Tiana couldn't understand why she had made the mistakes she had. She only knew she had hurt her mother, but her mother had forgiven her. Her mother was still the person who loved her most in the world. And now, having her back, she felt a dependence on her that was stronger than ever before.
