After Ronan got back, Cordelia told him about setting up a job interview for Harold through Victoria. She admitted that she felt her influence wasn't strong enough and worried that Harold might throw a fit and refuse. Ever since Harold left Birchwood College, he had been nursing a grudge against her—typical young hothead stuff.
"Alright," Ronan said, dialing Harold's number right away.
He insisted that Harold attend the interview as a personal favor. Then he asked, "You're not still hanging around with Samantha, are you?"
"No," Harold replied earnestly.
"What exactly happened last night? Did you sleep with her?" Ronan had his reasons for disliking Samantha.
After a long pause, Harold finally said, "No. It was all for Victoria's sake."
"Good to hear. Now, steer clear of Samantha, both now and in the future. She's stringing you along while seeing some rich guy. Don't fall into her trap and end up regretting it," Ronan advised, though he suspected Harold's act was as much for Cordelia's benefit as it was for Victoria's.
With that, Ronan hung up.
The next day, Harold went to the interview at 'Stormfront Investments,' where the founder, Daniel, was set to interview him.
Harold had managed to shake off his gloom. He wore a crisp white shirt and a well-fitting suit that showed off his good looks and athletic build. His finance degree was definitely relevant to the job.
Daniel, sitting across from Harold, scrutinized him. Harold's striking appearance was an eye-opener for Daniel, making him realize there were always bigger fish in the sea.
Victoria was just finishing with a patient, who, sensing Harold's hostility, quickly scurried out, muttering, “Crazy…” under her breath as she left.
Victoria looked up. "Aren't you supposed to be at your interview?"
"Should I be?" Harold fixed his gaze on her. "Your admirer just handed me a job on a silver platter. Are you happy now? What do you really want?"
Victoria furrowed her brows, puzzled. Daniel had promised not to tell Harold the truth. Why had he broken his word?
"I'll call him!" she declared, reaching for her phone.
