Although the incident had happened a long time ago, it still left a dark shadow in Celeste's heart.
She couldn't bear to imagine what would have happened that night if she hadn't run into Caitlin.
Now, just the sight of Kenna made Celeste feel sick.
Hearing this, Caitlin's expression changed as well. "That was her?"
"Yep," Celeste nodded.
Caitlin frowned slightly. "March, why didn't you say so earlier? If you had, I would have taught her a lesson for you!"
Celeste burst out laughing. "Catie, that doesn't sound like something you'd say!"
"What?" Caitlin raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't?"
"Nope," Celeste shook her head. "But you were pretty cute just now."
She continued, "Actually, my parents already got revenge for me. After that happened, my dad canceled all his business partnerships with her father, and my mom completely cut ties with her mom. The Chase family is having a very hard time now. Kenna probably came to find me because of that, hoping we could be friends again. Pfft, as if! Fool me once, shame on you. Does she really think I'm an idiot?"
"Anyway, let's not talk about her. It's bad luck," Celeste said, changing the subject. "Catie, tell me what's been going on with you! How are your roommates? Is everyone getting along? Any weirdos?"
Caitlin thought for a moment. "Well, most of them are normal."
That piqued Celeste's interest. "Which ones aren't?"
Caitlin began to recount the events that had unfolded in her dorm over the past few days. Celeste howled with laughter.
"I can't believe your roommate! What was she thinking, trying to be you? I can't wait to see her face when the truth comes out—serves her right!"
Then, Celeste shared stories about her own dorm.
"We have two weirdos in our dorm, one major and one minor. It's scorching hot in The Capital right now, but they both claim they're resistant to heat and don't need the A/C, so they refuse to split the bill with us!"
"..."
The two friends chatted away in the car, sharing amusing stories about starting college. The car was filled with waves of laughter.
Caitlin was like that. Usually quiet and reserved, she seemed like a very gentle person. But when she was with a good friend, she became a different person entirely.
As they were talking, Celeste seemed to remember something. "By the way, Catie, Scarlett and Hanley also got into universities here in The Capital. They want to meet up after our military training ends. Are you in?"
Scarlett Ryan and Hanley Young had been the students sitting in front of Caitlin and Celeste in their senior year of high school.
Caitlin smiled. "Of course!"

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
