Caitlin scrolled through the messages and pictures from Gordon, a smile playing on her lips. [Anyone who didn't know better would think you were going on a blind date tonight.]
[Isn't this more important than a blind date?]
As Caitlin was typing her reply, Gertrude called out from the kitchen, "Catie, Elsa and I are making pasta. Do you want some? If you do, we'll make extra."
She had to admit, moving into this luxury three-person dorm was incredibly convenient. They could cook whatever they wanted without worrying about the dorm supervisor doing inspections.
"Yes!" Caitlin immediately grabbed her phone and ran to the kitchen. "I want a salad too! Oh, let me help you two."
"No, no." Elsa gently pushed Caitlin out. "Gertrude and I have got this. You go be all sweet with your boyfriend. The kitchen isn't for you right now."
Gertrude nodded in agreement. "Elsa's right, Catie. Go on, we don't need your help in here."
Caitlin was shooed out of the kitchen.
Half an hour later, Elsa emerged with a large bowl of pasta. "Dinner's ready, Catie!"
"Coming!"
Caitlin put down her phone and walked to the dining table.
Gertrude placed a platter of marinated fish on the table. "This is a spicy marinated fish from my hometown. I made it last night and let it sit in the fridge overnight, so it should be perfectly seasoned. You two try it and see what you think."
Caitlin took a bite and her eyes lit up. "Wow, it's so spicy and delicious! Gertrude, you're a hidden gem!"
Elsa also tried a piece. "This is really good! Better than what I've bought in stores! Gertrude, you really are a treasure."
Seeing her roommates enjoy the dish she made so much gave Gertrude a deep sense of accomplishment.
Before, she had always imagined that wealthy young ladies were ethereal beings who only ate at high-end restaurants where meals cost thousands, and even had their mouthwash air-shipped. That's how it was in the movies, anyway.
They say art imitates life, so she had assumed that real-life heiresses would be even more extravagant than their on-screen counterparts.
It wasn't until she got to know Caitlin that she realized the truth.
True ladies from prestigious families had a grace that came from within. Though they stood at the very top, they never looked down on others or categorized people by class. They could dine with poise in the finest restaurants and sit with elegance at a humble street food stall.
Since there were no afternoon classes, Gordon drove to Kingsward University at one o'clock.
Caitlin got into the passenger seat. "Where are we going now?"
They were scheduled to meet Norris at five, so they just needed to be at the restaurant by four-thirty. They still had plenty of time.
Gordon said, "There's a wetland park nearby with some great scenery. Want to go for a walk there?"
He had looked it up. In the golden month of September, the scenery at the park was lovely, perfect for a couple's stroll.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
