THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 1098

"Thank you, Dad. I will," Norris said, his expression solemn as he took Celeste's hand.

Next came the vows and the exchange of rings.

In the audience, Celeste's mother was a mess of tears. She was overjoyed that her precious daughter was finally getting married, yet she couldn't bear to let her go. It was a feeling only a parent could truly understand.

Chadwick Hayes stood beside her, trying to console her. "It's okay, Mom, don't cry. March might be married, but I'm not!"

Celeste's mother shot him a withering look. "Don't make me slap you on this happy day."

Chadwick grinned sheepishly. "I was just trying to cheer you up since you looked so sad."

"You have some nerve," she retorted. "Your little sister is married now, and what about you? You're thirty years old and you don't even have a girlfriend!"

"What's wrong with thirty?" Chadwick slicked back his hair with a flourish. "A thirty-year-old man is a flower in full bloom. I'm still a delicate little blossom!"

A delicate blossom?

That was too much for his mother. She reached out and twisted his ear. "Can you please be normal for once?"

"Okay, okay, normal, I'm normal," Chadwick said, sitting up straight like a schoolboy in class.

His mother pressed on. "Tell me, what kind of woman are you even looking for? I'll have people find someone for you, and we'll keep looking until you're satisfied!"

"Mom, my standards are actually very simple."

"Go on."

Chadwick looked at his mother with a serious expression. "She just has to look like an angel. A man as exceptional as myself deserves a woman of celestial beauty!"

His mother fought the urge to hit him. "Then you can prepare to die alone."

Chadwick didn't reply, his gaze drifting to a certain spot in the banquet hall.

Who said there were no angels in the world? If there was one, there could certainly be another.
