THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 462

But this morning—

Her blemishes were no longer red or swollen; in fact, they looked almost healed.

Cassidy had tried so many creams over the years, but none had ever worked this kind of magic.

This was a first.

No one could possibly understand just how giddy she felt.

She’d honestly thought the ointment Caitlin gave her would be useless, but to her utter shock, the results were nothing short of miraculous.

Cassidy immediately opened WhatsApp and started a video call with Caitlin.

It didn’t take long before Caitlin answered. “Hey, Cassidy.”

With barely contained excitement, Cassidy exclaimed, “Freya, your cream is incredible! I only put it on last night, and when I woke up this morning, most of my pimples were already gone.”

Caitlin smiled and replied, “Cassidy, remember to use it three times a day and keep at it for about a week. Try not to wear any makeup during this time. When the week’s up, your skin should be completely clear.”

“Really, Freya? Thank you! Once my face is back to normal, I’m taking you out for barbecue.”

“Deal.”

The Cartwright Estate.

Raven had made it through her first night unscathed. She wasn’t the least bit worried by The Ridge Viper’s threats. If that snake was really so formidable, it would’ve caught up to her already—after all, it was only a hundred kilometers away. Surely, it wouldn’t have waited this long.

Meanwhile—

In the Cartwrights’ back garden—

Something massive seemed to be slithering through the thick flowerbeds, its scales catching flashes of sunlight as it moved almost too quickly for the eye to follow.

One of the gardeners frowned, sensing that something was off. He turned to his coworker. “Perkins, don’t you feel like there’s something weird about the garden today?”

He couldn’t explain it, but ever since he’d come out here in the afternoon, he’d felt unsettled.

Perkins kept spreading sod as he replied, “Weird? Steele, you’re just spooking yourself for no reason. Let’s hurry up and finish so we can get out of here.”

Hearing that, Steele shrugged it off and got back to work.

Raven, after carefully doing her makeup, grabbed her purse and headed out.

She made her way to a trendy restaurant for afternoon tea.

Keira frowned. “I’m going straight to Virgil Cartwright! Is this how he raises his daughter?”

“No need,” Caitlin said, gently placing a hand over Keira’s. “Grandma, Raven will get what’s coming to her soon enough.”

Keira looked at her, a little uncertain. “Freya, is The Ridge Viper really that dangerous?”

Caitlin took a bite of her dessert, then replied, “Honestly, The Ridge Viper isn’t so temperamental. The real problem is that Raven ignored every warning and stole its egg. That snake will definitely come after the Cartwrights for revenge.”

Keira nodded, understanding.

Having survived the previous night, Raven didn’t give the whole thing a second thought. She went through her skincare routine and fell asleep without a care.

At two-thirty in the morning, an icy chill startled her awake.

It was an odd sensation—like something cold and slick was crawling up her pajama pant leg, inching higher and higher along her skin.

Half-asleep, Raven blinked open her eyes—only to see, poking out from her pajama collar, a terrifying serpent’s head, tongue flicking in and out with a menacing hiss.

Any trace of sleep vanished in an instant. Raven screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Aaaah!”
