Jennifer stood at the door and knocked. “Miss Palmer? Mrs. Lewis is here to see you. Please open the door.”

“Miss Palmer?”

No matter how many times Jennifer called out, there was only silence from the other side.

She turned to Mrs. Lewis, face stricken and eyes brimming with tears. “Mrs. Lewis, it’s over. I think something really has happened to Miss Palmer…”
