Amanda let out a cold snort. “Anyone who would get involved with some divorced, secondhand goods obviously doesn’t come from a respectable background. Probably just another penniless nobody—just like that little tramp Caitlin—good looks, empty pockets.”
Ann narrowed her eyes. “You’re right, Mom. Anyone with real status wouldn’t be caught dead dating a divorced woman.”
Amanda turned to Ann and smiled. “Ann, don’t stress about any of this. Just focus on taking care of yourself for now and be ready for the tea party. I’ve already picked out the perfect venue for you.”
She continued, “Did you send word to Miss Palmer and Daniel?”
A sly smile played on Ann’s lips. “There’s no need for special invitations. If they catch wind of the tea party, I’m sure they’ll show up at The Capital on their own.”
Ann had originally prepared invitations for both Celia and Daniel, but the more she thought about it, the more she liked the idea of them showing up uninvited—it would make her look all the more important.
And Ann was confident they would.
Amanda nodded, her face glowing with satisfaction. “If your grandmother finds out that even Miss Palmer is willing to lower herself to attend your tea party, she’ll be shocked! After all, that country girl Caitlin could never pull off something like this.”
Ann narrowed her eyes, anticipation glinting within. “I’m really starting to look forward to that day.”
She would be the envy of everyone.
Just as Caitlin stepped through the front door, Monday bounded over, tail wagging and barking excitedly—welcoming Mom home.
“Monday!” Caitlin bent down and hugged the dog’s big head. “You look like you’ve gained weight again!”
Monday licked her face nonstop.
Keira appeared in the hallway. “Freya’s home!”
Standing nearby, Keira noticed her granddaughter’s furrowed brow and grew anxious. “Freya, is something wrong with your father?”
“No,” Caitlin replied, lifting her gaze, long lashes casting shadows over her eyes. “Aunt Amanda’s been taking good care of him.”
Keira breathed a sigh of relief. She had faith her daughter wouldn’t harm her brother—Amanda and Stuart were, after all, siblings.
Without another word, Caitlin took out her acupuncture kit and began the treatment.
Time flew by.
Twelve days passed in a blur.
Today was Celia’s last day of taking her medicine. After finishing her midday dose, she told Jennifer, “If there’s nothing important, please don’t disturb me. I’m going to take a nap.”

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
