THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 678

It had to be a joke. It had to be. Tammie was perfectly healthy. How could something have happened to him?

"Mrs. Templeton, I know this is hard to accept, but I'm not joking. Please, you have to get to the hospital."

All the strength left Keira's body. Her knees buckled, and she collapsed onto the floor.

"Tammie! Oh, Tammie!"

She had watched him grow up. The boy had lost his parents at a young age and had faced so many hardships. Never in her worst nightmares did she imagine that he would be the one to go before her.

Her wails alerted the housekeeper, who rushed into the room.

"Ma'am, are you alright?" she asked, alarmed to find Keira on the floor. She quickly helped her up. "What happened?"

Keira was sobbing so hard she could barely speak. "Quickly… get the car. I need to go to The Capital Hospital."

"Right away," the housekeeper replied.

Keira didn't remember getting into the car or walking into the hospital's palliative care unit. When she arrived, Benedict was already there.

Tammie was lying on the bed, covered by a white sheet that extended over his head.

With trembling hands, Keira pulled back the white sheet from his face. He lay with his eyes closed, his skin pale, looking peaceful, as if he were only asleep. The sight broke her heart all over again. She reached out and gently traced his features. "Such a good boy. You were so young, with your whole life ahead of you. Why did you give up?"

He hadn't even started a family or fallen in love.

Benedict stepped forward. "Ma'am, my deepest condolences. This is the note Tammie left. I think you should see it."

Keira wiped her tears and took the paper from him. Reading it only deepened her pain. It felt as if a heavy weight was crushing her chest, making it impossible to breathe. The poor child had thought of everyone else, but not of himself.
