THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 684

As Ennio turned to leave, Smith narrowed his eyes. "Wait."

"Yes, Director? Is there something else?" Ennio paused, turning back.

"You go and speak to the reporters on my behalf," Smith instructed. "Tell them I'm far too busy to be disturbed."

He had worked too hard for this monumental achievement to remain completely hidden from the limelight. It was a perfect opportunity to cement his legacy. But if he appeared himself, he might be perceived as arrogant or fame-hungry. Having Ennio act as his proxy was the perfect solution.

Ennio's face lit up with elation. He never dreamed he would be given such an honor.

"Of course, Professor Smith!" he said, his voice brimming with excitement. "I'll go right away."

Meanwhile, after handling Tammie's funeral arrangements, Benedict took one-third of Tammie's inheritance to find Lindy's son, Tim.

Tim and his wife, Priscilla, were still in The Capital, staying in the apartment Lindy had rented before her death. Because of what had happened, the place was now considered a cursed property, shunned by everyone. Relatives had been calling nonstop, urging them to move out. They said the spirit of someone who died tragically would linger, and staying in such a place would only bring bad luck and ghostly encounters.

Priscilla had pleaded with her husband to leave, but Tim refused.

Priscilla sighed. "You can't bring the dead back to life. If you keep this up, what are Tina and I supposed to do?"

Tim ran a hand through his hair, saying nothing.

"We only took two weeks off from work," she reminded him. "We need to settle Mom's affairs, hire a lawyer, and see what kind of compensation we can get from that Tammie person. We should just take what we can and move on."

She was gone. Nothing they did now would change that. If they delayed any longer, they would risk their jobs. The dead were dead, but the living had to find a way to keep living.

"Money, money! That's all you ever think about!" Tim snapped, his voice raw. "Is there anything else you care about?"
