Priscilla took a deep breath. "I know you think I'm being cold, but what do you think we spend our whole lives working for? It's for money. If it wasn't for money, your mom wouldn't have ended up working as a maid. Without it, we can't even put food on the table. It's the only thing that lets us survive in this world!"
Priscilla was a realist. If it weren't for their financial struggles, her mother-in-law would never have met such a tragic end.
Pain etched itself across Tim's face. He rubbed his temples, a headache pounding behind his eyes.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
Priscilla set down the bowl and went to open it. "Coming!"
Standing on the doorstep was Benedict. Priscilla didn't recognize him. "Can I help you?"
"Hello, you must be Mrs. Lowell," Benedict said. "My name is Benedict. I was a friend of Tammie's. I came to speak with Mr. Lowell about compensation for Lindy."
The moment he heard Tammie's name, Tim shot up from the sofa. He stormed to the door, grabbed Benedict by the collar, and snarled, his eyes bloodshot, "Where is he? Where's Tammie? He's the one who killed my mother! Why isn't he here?"
He wanted that murderer to kneel before his mother's portrait and beg for forgiveness.
Benedict didn't resist, simply sighing. "Mr. Lowell, I understand your grief, but what's done is done. Please, accept my condolences."
*Condolences?* Tim let out a bitter laugh. A friend of the killer had the nerve to offer him condolences? What right did he have?
Priscilla rushed over, prying her husband's fingers from Benedict's shirt. "Let go! Tim, let him go!" she hissed. Benedict was just a friend; he wasn't the one responsible for her mother-in-law's death. She didn't want her husband taking his anger out on an innocent person. Besides, judging by Benedict's attire, he, like Tammie, was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
Before Priscilla could say more, Tim abruptly stood up and walked back toward the bedroom.
Priscilla frowned, then turned to Benedict. "Excuse me for a moment, Mr. Quinn."
Benedict nodded in understanding.
She followed Tim into the room. He immediately threw a pillow at her. "Priscilla! That was my mother! My own mother! How much money are you planning to get for her life?"
"Tim, calm down," Priscilla said calmly, catching the pillow. "Mom is gone. Nothing we do can change that. Tammie has money to spare. It's ours for the taking."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
