With those words, Mrs. Palmer's knees buckled as she prepared to kneel before Caitlin. She was a woman of high society, a respected aristocrat, but to save her son, she would do anything.
"Mrs. Palmer, please, get up!" Caitlin rushed forward and helped her to her feet. "Healing the sick is a doctor's duty. While the Lasug parasite is an ancient and resilient virus, the situation has not yet become uncontrollable. If you follow my instructions and use the prescription I provide, Mr. Brock should recover in less than a week."
"Truly?" Mrs. Palmer's eyes, which had been dull with despair, now shone with renewed hope.
"Yes," Caitlin affirmed.
It was the best news she had heard in a very long time. Celia was overjoyed as well. "See, Mother? I told you Freya could save Brock."
The others in the room exchanged uneasy glances. Even if Caitlin had, by some stroke of luck, correctly diagnosed the illness, that didn't mean she could cure it. Lasug was an ancient virus, dormant for thousands of years. If it were that simple to treat, the Palmer family's affliction wouldn't have persisted for generations. Caitlin was making it sound far too easy.
But Mrs. Palmer had no such doubts. Wiping away her tears, she said, "Thank you, Miss Gonzales. Please, give us the prescription. Someone, bring a pen and paper!"
A servant quickly provided them. Caitlin wrote out a list of herbs and handed it to Mrs. Palmer.
"Thank you, Miss Gonzales," Mrs. Palmer said, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Mrs. Palmer, my friend is waiting for me back at the hotel. If there is nothing else, I will take my leave now. I will return in seven days for a follow-up," Caitlin said.
"Of course," Mrs. Palmer replied, turning to Celia. "Celia, please escort Miss Gonzales back."
"Right away," Celia said, joining Caitlin. "Freya, let's go."
Caitlin nodded and followed her out.
After they had left, Lance stepped forward, his eyes narrowed. "Mrs. Palmer, may I have a look at that prescription?"
"Because this formula will have no effect on his condition," Lance stated confidently. "Worse, it could actually cause harmful side effects."
Hearing this, a smug look crossed Rosemary's face.
Excellent. So what if Caitlin had diagnosed the problem? She couldn't cure him. In the end, it was all for nothing. And once Caitlin failed to cure Brock, she would never be able to forge a connection with the powerful Palmer family.
Lance continued, "If you trust me, give me one week. In that time, I will develop a specific medication to combat Lasug and restore Patriarch Brock to full health."
Before, they had been working in the dark, but now, with a diagnosis, everything had changed. It didn't matter that Caitlin had identified the illness. In the end, he would be the one to cure Brock. Caitlin had simply done the grunt work for him. The more Lance thought about it, the more pleased he became. He knew Mrs. Palmer would choose him. After all, he was a Valerian. Why would she trust a foreigner over one of her own?
"Trust you?" Mrs. Palmer's voice was icy. She fixed him with a cold stare. "You couldn't even diagnose my son's illness. Why on earth would I trust you? I think you and your colleagues are two of a kind, simply trying to steal Miss Gonzales's medical breakthrough!"
She turned to the butler. "Palmer Manor does not welcome people like you. Please leave at once."

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
