THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 763

Mrs. Palmer was no fool. Countless Valerian doctors had failed to diagnose Brock, yet Caitlin had done so with just two golden needles. That alone was a testament to her skill. She wouldn't have written a prescription if she wasn't confident it would work. Furthermore, Caitlin had cured Celia. From the moment Caitlin had accurately identified Brock's illness, Mrs. Palmer's faith in her had been absolute. To side with Lance now would be utterly idiotic.

Lance was stunned by her reaction. It was a profound insult. He was one of the most renowned physicians in Valerium, yet Mrs. Palmer was accusing him of trying to plagiarize Caitlin's work. What the fuck? It was laughable. He couldn't believe his well-intentioned warning had been met with such scorn.

Struggling to contain his anger, he drew himself up, adhering to the physician's duty to save lives. "Mrs. Palmer, some mistakes, once made, cannot be undone. I urge you to reconsider. A life is at stake."

"There is nothing to reconsider. I trust Miss Gonzales," Mrs. Palmer said, her tone resolute.

Lance was exasperated. "Patriarch Brock is in a critical state. If you insist on giving him that woman's concoction, you will regret it! Based on this prescription, I predict his condition will take a sharp turn for the worse within three days. Three days, Mrs. Palmer."

Mrs. Palmer had heard enough. "Leroy, see our guest out!"

Leroy stepped forward. "Mr. Lance, this way, please."

Lance shot a final look at Mrs. Palmer. "Mark my words, Mrs. Palmer. Remember what happened here today. I hope for your sake you don't come begging for my help in three days' time." He was certain she would. But when she did, he would not be so forgiving.

Lance turned, a questioning look on his face. "Miss Vance, can I help you?" He secretly looked down on the Vance family. They hadn't immigrated to Valerium through conventional means but had been granted political asylum, latching onto the Windsor family for support. Lance detested such opportunists. But, as they were now under the Windsors' protection, he had to show a modicum of respect.

Rosemary fell into step beside him. "Mr. Lance, about Patriarch Brock's illness… is it true that the prescription Miss Gonzales wrote won't be able to cure him?"

"That's correct," Lance confirmed. "Her prescription is nothing more than a common anti-parasitic. It will not only fail to help him but will likely aggravate his condition."
