If only Carey had died, none of this would have happened!
All Rosemary could do now was wish she could turn back time.
Through the glass partition, Caitlin looked at Dowager Vance, her voice soft and airy. "Dowager Vance. It's been a long time."
Dowager Vance broke out in a cold sweat. Caitlin's words were light, but they carried a chilling weight that settled deep in her bones.
She remembered. The last time she had come to this dark room to see Caitlin, those were the exact words she had used: "It's been a long time."
And now, Caitlin was returning them, word for word.
Though it was just a single sentence, Dowager Vance could feel the venomous hatred simmering beneath the surface. In that instant, she recalled something else Caitlin had said to her during that last visit.
Caitlin had sworn she would make them—mother and daughter—wish they were dead.
At the time, Dowager Vance had dismissed it as the desperate threat of a cornered animal. But now, hearing Caitlin's voice again, a shiver crawled up her spine, making her scalp tingle with dread.
What was she going to do? What could she possibly do?
The memory of her son brought a wave of grief so intense it felt like her heart was being ripped from her chest. She could barely breathe. If her son were still alive, she wouldn't be this helpless old woman, bullied by everyone. It was all that bitch Carey's fault. If it weren't for her, her precious boy would still be alive.
Hannah's eyes widened in disbelief. Carey had played with Quinton's feelings? How was that possible? No one knew her daughter better than she did. Carey would never, ever do something like that.
"Don't you dare spout such nonsense, you old hag!" Stuart's eyes were bloodshot with fury. "Carey and I were each other's first love! She didn't know anyone from the Vance family, and she certainly didn't know any Quinton!"
As her husband, Stuart had unwavering faith in his wife.
Dowager Vance turned to Stuart, a venomous smile twisting her lips. "Oh, Stuart, you poor, naive man. Didn't you know? Your wife, Carey, might have looked as pure as driven snow, but she was nothing but a promiscuous whore. Why else do you think I would imprison her for over twenty years if not for what she did to my son? This was simply a grieving mother getting justice for her child! What I did to Carey…"

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
