THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 872

Before Dowager Vance could finish, Stuart lunged forward and slapped her hard across the face.

"Shut your mouth, you old witch! Insult my wife again, and I swear I'll cut out your tongue!"

Dowager Vance spat out a mouthful of blood. "You can silence me, but you can't change the truth! Carey killed my son. She's a murderer!"

"Impossible! Carey is not a murderer!" Stuart grabbed a handful of her hair, his entire body shaking with rage. He wanted to kill the old hag right then and there for her vicious lies, but he knew that would be too easy an escape for her. Carey had suffered at the hands of the Vances for two decades. They deserved far worse.

Just then, the eight Richards uncles filed into the room, forming a tight, intimidating circle around Dowager Vance.

"We advise you to watch your mouth, old woman."

Dowager Vance pulled herself upright and faced the eight brothers, a bitter smile on her face. "It's good to have sons, isn't it? So wonderful! If my son were still alive, would you dare bully a helpless old widow like this? Go on! Kill me!"

She then turned her gaze to Hannah, who stood by the glass door. "Hannah Richards, I'll tell you this—my son is gone, so I'm not afraid to die! What can you people, the Richards and the Gonzaleses, do besides throw your power around? Even if you kill me today, it won't change the fact that Carey is a murderer!"

She was playing a dangerous game, twisting the knife in Hannah's conscience to create an opening for Rosemary. She wanted to leverage Hannah's guilt over Quinton's death to secure her daughter's freedom. And it was working. Hannah was already wavering.

She just needed one more push. One more spark, and Rosemary could walk out of this hellhole. But she wanted more than just freedom for her daughter; she wanted to use this guilt to ensure Rosemary a life of luxury. Her daughter would not suffer.

Dowager Vance narrowed her eyes, ready to deliver the final blow, when a new voice cut through the tense air.

"Diana is lying."
