THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 877

Justice nodded along. "Mom, you're being a little hard on yourself."

He knew his mother-in-law adored Caitlin, but he hadn't realized the depths of her affection.

Beatrice, however, was unfazed. "What's so hard about it? For the Sylvester family to have a daughter-in-law like Catie would be a blessing from our ancestors. Our family tomb would probably start smoking! What's a little dirt compared to that?"

If eating dirt was the price for a daughter-in-law as wonderful as Caitlin, she considered it a bargain.

Justice was speechless. He was now certain his mother-in-law must have been a hopeless romantic in her youth.

"Don't worry, you won't have to," Skyler piped up. "Mom, Dad, Grandma, stop speculating. My uncle is a sworn bachelor! And Boss Caitlin is so busy she barely has time to reply to my texts. When would she have time for romance? Besides, even if she were dating someone, it wouldn't be my uncle."

From Skyler's perspective, neither Caitlin nor Gordon seemed like they were in a relationship.

As for Gordon? A man who spent his days practically glued to a copy of *A Random Walk Down Wall Street* was the last person Skyler would peg as a romantic.

Beatrice shot Skyler a disdainful look. "Why do you always have to chime in?"

"I'm serious!" Skyler insisted. "If those two ever get together, you won't have to eat any dirt. I'll eat it for you."

Beatrice smacked him lightly on the arm. "Just shut your mouth." Honestly, the boy never had anything nice to say. Not a single word she wanted to hear.

Meanwhile, Gordon had gotten into the car with Monday, who was buckled into the passenger seat.

Gordon leaned over to adjust the seatbelt and patted the dog's head. "Good boy! You made Dad proud today. I'll reward you with two of Snow's canned food pouches when we get home."

Monday had a strange quirk. He despised his own canned food but loved stealing Snow's. He'd get caught every time and earn a good swatting from the cat, only to try again the next day. It was a vicious cycle of theft and punishment, as if he were possessed by some mischievous demon.

At the mention of Snow's food, Monday's eyes lit up, and he let out a happy bark.

Gordon didn't start the car right away. Instead, he pulled out his phone and switched to the camera. "Alright, let's take a selfie for Mom."

Monday cooperatively tilted his head, looking so adorable that Gordon couldn't resist snapping a few extra photos. He posted two to his social media and sent one directly to Caitlin.

[Boss, look! Monday and I are heading home after a successful dinner mooching mission~]

It was just after ten in the morning in Valerium, and Caitlin was packing her suitcase. When she saw Gordon's message, she sent a picture back.

[Packing my bags. Getting ready to come home tomorrow.]

His words made Caitlin chuckle. "Mr. Sylvester, your silver tongue is getting quite impressive."

"It's all from the heart," Gordon said, propping his phone up. He added proudly, "Catie, I learned a new spicy recipe recently. I'll make it for you when you get back."

"Ooh, yes please!" Caitlin's eyes lit up at the mention of food. "Oh, let me see Monday."

"Of course." Gordon turned the camera toward the dog.

"Where's Snow? I don't see him," Caitlin asked.

"Probably out on another adventure."

Gordon was used to Snow's frequent disappearances. He then asked, "Catie, what time is your flight tomorrow?"

"Seven in the morning. We should land at Capital Airport around seven the following morning." Caitlin paused, then said, "By the way, Mr. Sylvester, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?" Gordon asked.

"I found my mom," Caitlin said, her voice steady.
