THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 881

Gordon tied his apron back on and tasted the vermicelli. "I'm afraid it's a lost cause. I'll just make a new batch."

"You really don't have to go to all that trouble," Caitlin said, walking over. "I can eat anything."

"It's no trouble. I have plenty of ingredients left over."

Gordon used to hate the kitchen. But ever since he started learning to cook, he had gradually fallen in love with it. He even found the process of cooking to be incredibly relaxing. And the thought that Caitlin would be the one eating the food made it even more so.

Caitlin rolled up her sleeves. "Then let me be your sous chef."

"No, no," Gordon said, gently pushing Caitlin out of the kitchen. "The housekeeper has already prepped everything. You just stay in the living room and play with Snow and Monday."

Monday barked in agreement. *Dad's right!*

Snow meowed her assent. *Exactly!*

"Alright then." Caitlin returned to the living room, curled up on the sofa with the cat in her left arm and the dog in her right, and started watching TV. Sunlight streamed in through the French windows, painting a scene of warmth and tranquility.

A little while later, Gordon came into the living room. "Catie, would you prefer rice or noodles for lunch?"

Caitlin thought for a moment. "A simple noodle soup, please. It's something I really missed while I was abroad."

"You got it." Gordon nodded slightly. "We can eat in about seven or eight minutes, then."

The noodle soup was simple to make. He just needed to cook the noodles in a rich broth and garnish them with some chopped scallions and cilantro.

Soon, Gordon had brought all the dishes to the table. "Lunch is served, Catie."

The spread was incredible: Cajun crawfish, sea bass, chicken wings, calamari, steamed king crab legs, and a fresh salad on the side.

"Wow! Gordon, your skills are getting better and better! This looks, smells, and tastes absolutely incredible!" Caitlin picked up a chicken wing and took a bite, giving Gordon a thumbs-up as she ate.

Gordon pulled on a pair of gloves and started peeling the crawfish, placing the shelled meat into Caitlin's bowl. "I'm just glad you like it."

After peeling more than half the crawfish, he moved on to the crab legs, practically wishing he could debone the chicken wings for her too.

"Here, you try some," Caitlin offered, holding a piece of crawfish up to his mouth.

Gordon accepted it, chewing slowly, his eyes crinkling with a blissful smile. It was true what the books said. The best way to a woman's heart was through her stomach. Look at that. Caitlin was feeding him now.

"Silly girl," Fortune said with a chuckle, patting her back. "Why are you crying? Are you hungry? I will go make you some noodles."

"Alright," Caitlin nodded a little. "I've been craving your homemade noodles."

Fortune went cheerfully into the kitchen to make noodles for his granddaughter.

That evening, Caitlin accompanied Fortune for a walk in the park.

The old man was overjoyed, telling everyone he met, "My granddaughter came back to see me." If anyone complimented her on her beauty, he was even happier.

The next day at noon, Caitlin and Fortune boarded a flight to The Capital. Stuart Gonzales and Carey were there to pick them up personally.

"Godfather!"

From a distance, Stuart waved at the old man. "Stuart!" Fortune waved back excitedly.

As Caitlin and her grandfather approached, Stuart immediately took the suitcase from his hands and made the introduction. "Godfather, this is my wife, Carey."
