Keira looked at Carey intently. "Gordon immediately picked the apple up and told Beatrice that it cost thirty dollars. He said if she was angry, she could take it out on him, but not on his money!"
As for how Keira knew such a specific detail, it was because she had hired the same private nurse who had once cared for Beatrice. The nurse had been complaining to her family on a video call, gossiping in her regional dialect about how a rich man could be so miserly. She had assumed Keira wouldn't understand a word.
She didn't know that Keira happened to be from the very same region.
Hearing the story, Carey found it just as absurd. "But isn't the Sylvester family incredibly wealthy? Why would Gordon be so cheap?"
Keira shook her head. "Who knows!"
She sighed again. "Can you imagine what life would be like for our Freya with him? She'd probably have to file a formal request just to buy a cup of coffee. For all we know, he's been living off our Freya's money this whole time."
The money itself wasn't the main issue; relationships were a two-way street. But a man like Gordon probably only knew how to take, not how to give.
With anyone else, it would seem impossible. But this was Gordon Sylvester, a man whose stinginess was legendary throughout the city.
Carey frowned. "If he's really that cheap, then Freya definitely can't end up with someone like that."
Just then, Caitlin came walking down the stairs.
Seeing her, Carey immediately beckoned her over. "Freya, come here for a second."
"Coming, Mom."
Caitlin walked over and asked, "What's up?"
Carey took a moment to gather her thoughts. "Freya, Mom needs to ask you something."
As a mother, she couldn't bear to see her daughter suffer, especially not from heartache. Her daughter had already endured all the world's hardships in her first twenty years; from now on, she deserved to be cherished, to be everyone's little princess.
Carey continued, "I've heard that Gordon is a very cheap man. Not just with his money, but even with his own family. Freya, if you're with someone like that, you'll face nothing but frustration and hardship."
Keira jumped in. "Your mom's right, Freya. There are plenty of good men in the world. Why would you choose a cheapskate?"
At this point, Keira's disdain for Gordon was palpable.
"Cheap?" Caitlin looked utterly confused. "Grandma, Mom, I think you've misunderstood. Gordon isn't cheap at all. He's incredibly generous. He's always transferring money to me for no reason."
With that, Caitlin pulled out her phone and showed them her transaction history with Gordon.
Just last night, in fact, he had sent her a transfer for $831,831.
Seeing the chat log only made Keira's heart ache for Caitlin even more. It was obvious what had happened. Caitlin must have sent the money to Gordon first, just so he could send it back to her as a romantic gesture.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
