THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 939

The blond punk didn't answer. His silence spoke volumes.

Fortune angrily shoved the punk's arm off his shoulder. "Go back and tell Wilfred that this old man doesn't scare easily! I bought that land, so it's mine. Why should I just hand it over to Mayo? We live in a society with laws, I'm not afraid of you! Your threats are useless!"

The punk didn't retaliate, simply letting Fortune push him away. "Old man, I bet you have no idea who you're dealing with, do you? The Lowell Group is the biggest enterprise in Silverhaven! You'd be better off doing Mayo a favor. Pissing him off won't end well for you."

"Have you ever considered that pissing me off won't end well for him?" Fortune retorted, planting his hands on his hips. "So what if he's from The Lowell Group? My granddaughter is the head of Apex Game Studios and the heir to Gonzales Holdings!"

At this, the blond punk and his cronies burst out laughing.

The head of Apex Game Studios? The heir to Gonzales Holdings!

This old man's granddaughter? As if!

Hilarious!

That was just too funny!

The punk sneered, his face full of disdain. "Old man, why don't you just say your granddaughter owns Sylvester Group while you're at it?"

"Yeah, right!"

"Hahaha!"

"You know, you're not far off," Fortune continued, unfazed. "The head of Sylvester Group, Gordon, is actually my granddaughter's boyfriend."

Fortune held a great deal of admiration for the young man, Gordon, and he said it with a genuine sense of pride.

His statement was met with even louder, more unrestrained laughter.

They were practically howling.

He's lost it.

Completely insane!

This old man must have a screw loose. How else could he spout such nonsense?

The blond's face was a mask of ridicule. "Stop dreaming, old man! You might as well claim the entire city of Eldermere belongs to your granddaughter! I'm going to ask you one last time: are you giving up the land or not?"

"Not a chance," Fortune said, enunciating each word.

"Fine, fine. So it's 'not a chance,' is it?" The punk chuckled darkly. "Don't regret it. Let's go, boys!"

His lackeys followed him as they swaggered away.

Watching them leave, Fortune frowned. He couldn't help but wonder how their parents had raised them.

He was heading home at ten past eight.

Fortune was in a good mood, humming an old opera tune as he walked.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows behind him. A cloth, soaked in a sweet-smelling anesthetic, was clamped firmly over his mouth and nose.

Fortune collapsed, unconscious.

When he came to, he was tied to a chair.

Sitting across from him, smoking a cigarette, was Wilfred.

"Mr. Kensington, we meet again," Wilfred greeted him with a smile.

Fortune struggled against his bonds, but they were tied tight. "Wilfred? What is this? Are you kidnapping me?"

"Not a kidnapping. Just a business negotiation," Wilfred said, exhaling a cloud of smoke. "Mr. Kensington, you know that our boss, Mayo, is very fond of that plot of land. I suggest you cooperate. With Mayo's influence, making you disappear from this world would be remarkably easy."

"You can't win against us."

"Don't you realize what you're doing is illegal?" Fortune couldn't believe the audacity of these people.

"Illegal?" Wilfred laughed, his eyes filled with scorn. "Don't you know? In Silverhaven, Mayo is the law. If you cooperate, not only will you save yourself a lot of pain, but you'll also make a friend in Mayo. It's a win-win situation. Why wouldn't you take it?"
