THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 938

A man should never desire his friend's wife.

Will understood the full weight of his mistake.

After he had left, he had someone look into it and only then discovered that Gordon and Caitlin's relationship was all over the internet.

He was the only one who hadn't known.

That was Gordon's girlfriend!

How could he have been so foolish?

The more Will thought about it, the more ashamed and terrified he became. He took the wooden branch from his back and offered it to Gordon with both hands, his voice trembling. "Master Ninth, please, punish me! I swear, I will never do something so stupid again!"

Gordon took the branch from Will's hands.

Will squeezed his eyes shut, bracing for the blow.

*Crack!*

The branch struck Will's back.

The pain was sharp and immediate.

Gordon had not held back. The thorns on the branch dug into Will's skin, and blood began to seep through his white shirt.

Everyone has their breaking point.

Gordon's used to be money.

Anyone who touched his money would face his wrath.

But now…

His breaking point was Caitlin.

His love was not something he kept hidden. He wanted the entire world to know that he loved Caitlin, and no one was allowed to cross that line.

Just as Will was waiting for the second strike, he heard Gordon's cold voice. "Go back. I don't want to see your face in Eldermere for the next three years."

Clatter.

The sound of the branch hitting the ground followed.

Then the sound of a door closing.

Although his back throbbed with pain, a smile spread across Will's face. He touched his back with one hand and pushed himself up from the ground with the other, shouting at the closed door, "Master Ninth, thank you for giving me a second chance! Please bring your future wife to Valerium anytime for a visit!"

"And I wish you and your future wife a long and happy marriage!"

After saying this, Will stood at the door for a moment. When it was clear Gordon wasn't going to open it again, he turned to leave.

He had only taken a few steps when the door opened again.

Will turned back excitedly.

Gordon tossed a small box at him. "For topical use, to prevent infection. Now get out of Eldermere."

"Hey, old man," one of them, a punk with blond hair who was smoking a cigarette, turned to face Fortune. "You haven't figured it out yet? We're doing this on purpose."

"On purpose?" Fortune was stunned.

Why would these young men deliberately go out of their way to harass an old man like him?

"Yeah, on purpose!" the blond punk confirmed, then burst into laughter.

The others joined in.

With that, the punk upended the entire garbage bag he was holding, scattering its contents all over the clean street.

Whoosh.

Instantly, the ground was covered in filth.

The stench was overwhelming.

Fortune frowned. "Young man! You should have some decency. This is an insult to working people!"

"An insult?" The blond punk smirked and gave Fortune a shove. "That's right, I am insulting you! What are you going to do about it? Are you going to call the cops? Or maybe complain to property management?"

The push sent Fortune staggering back several steps, and he nearly fell to the ground.

The blond punk stepped forward, draping an arm over Fortune's shoulder. He blew a smoke ring in his face, glanced toward a nearby security camera, and lowered his voice. "Listen up, old man. You've pissed off someone important. If you know what's good for you, you'll hand that plot of land over to Mayo. Otherwise, your easy life is about to come to an end."

At those words, Fortune instantly understood. He narrowed his eyes. "You were sent by Wilfred, weren't you?"
