THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 942

The sharp crack echoed in the room.

Fortune's face immediately swelled, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

"Fuck!" Fortune spat at Wilfred again. "I'm telling you, you bastard, if you've got the guts, kill me! Otherwise, you're a dead man when my granddaughter finds you!"

Wilfred was seething.

He couldn't believe this old man dared to challenge his authority again and again.

"Old man, it seems you really want to die!" Wilfred yanked Fortune's hair viciously and spat right back in his face.

Fortune remained unafraid, his eyes blazing with fury.

He had his granddaughter. He had people who had his back.

He wasn't afraid.

Wilfred clenched his fists, a vicious look flashing in his eyes. But then, as if an idea struck him, he let go of Fortune, wiped the spit from his face, and walked out.

Two security guards stood by the door.

Wilfred narrowed his eyes. "Watch this old bastard."

"Yes, Mr. Wilfred."

--

Wilfred made his way to Mayo's office.

He knocked.

Inside, the man and woman who had been tangled up together immediately separated.

Mayo zipped up his pants and calmly said, "Come in."

The woman quickly picked up her underwear from the floor and slipped into the adjoining private lounge.

Anyone present would have recognized her as Sophie Barrett.

The Barrett family was a fallen dynasty.

Hearing this, Mayo's eyes narrowed.

Just then, Sophie emerged from the lounge, fully dressed. Overhearing their conversation, she pieced things together and asked, "You still haven't acquired that southern plot of land?"

"No, Miss Barrett," Mayo replied respectfully.

"What old man is proving so difficult?" Sophie continued. "Let me see his file."

Mayo picked up Fortune's file from his desk and handed it to her.

Sophie took the file and read it carefully.

When she got to the end, a smile spread across her face. "Well, well, look who it is."

Sophie had caused trouble for Fortune before, so she was very familiar with his file.

Mayo's interest was piqued. "You know this old fool?"

"I do," Sophie said, her eyes glinting with a sinister light. "You could say his granddaughter, Caitlin, and I have some history. Mayo, you don't need to be gentle with people like him. Why don't you let me and Mr. Wilfred handle this? I guarantee I'll get that land for you in no time."
