Hearing such resolve from Keeley, Fortune felt he had to remind him, "Keeley, have you forgotten how your stepchildren treated you?"
A flicker of anger crossed Keeley's face at the mention of them. He had worked so hard to raise those children, expecting a peaceful retirement, only to discover they were all ungrateful leeches.
"A while ago, those vipers somehow heard about my family's property buyout. They had the gall to show up and offer to take care of me. As if I didn't know they were only after the money! I had my nephews throw them out!" Keeley paused, then looked at Fortune. "Those kids and I, we don't share any blood. But my four nephews are my own flesh and blood. Blood is thicker than water. I know they won't let me down."
He had no regrets about entrusting the money to his nephews.
"You're really not going to reconsider?" Fortune pressed, his brow furrowed slightly.
"No need to," Keeley said with a smile. "The blood ties are right there. I refuse to believe they'd do something so heartless."
Fortune tried one last time. "Then at least give yourself some security. You don't have to deposit the entire eight hundred thousand into their accounts. Keep half of it, at the very least."
"No, no," Keeley insisted. "It'll all be theirs after I'm gone anyway. Fortune, you can set your mind at ease. Ingratitude doesn't run in the Prescott family. Catie is definitely overthinking this one."
Caitlin was educated, that was true, and smart as a whip. But often, highly educated people were more cynical about human relationships. That must be why she was so distrustful of his nephews.
Since Keeley had made up his mind, Fortune knew he couldn't say any more. He was an outsider, after all. He had offered his advice, and that was all he could do.
He just hoped Keeley's nephews wouldn't betray his trust.

The Imperial Towers.
Gordon was instructing the housekeeper on ingredient prep. He had recently learned a few new dishes and had made plans with Caitlin the night before for her to bring Monday over for lunch.
Once the ingredients were ready, the housekeeper left the apartment.
Seeing that it was about time, Gordon picked up his phone and called Skyler.
Skyler answered quickly. "Hey, Uncle Gordon, what's up? You need something?"
[Too bad! Some things you just can't get, no matter how jealous you are!]
[What can I say? My girlfriend just loves me this much!]
When Gordon didn't reply, Skyler smirked. His uncle must be seriously triggered right now.
The thought made him giddy.
[Uncle, should I talk to Boss Caitlin and have her make one for you too?]
[If you want me to talk to Boss Caitlin for you, that's fine. But you have to beg me!]
[Just say the word, and I'll grant your wish.]
His uncle had never begged him for anything before. The thought was thrilling. Just so thrilling.

So happy for Carey, the reunion with her family is touching. Can we read more of Caitlin and Gordon? Readers are forgetting that Caitlin has a boyfriend by the way. Is it normal for their relationship to be erased in the storyline?...
Update please......
But where is Gordon?...
Great story, great author!...
