THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 958

Following that, Caitlin proceeded to leave a lipstick print on every single one of Gordon's white shirts.

--

That evening, Gordon went to the family home for dinner.

It was the 15th, so his sister, Alaina Sylvester, and his brother-in-law, Justice Cumming, were both there.

They were engrossed in a conversation with his mother, Beatrice, about something that had her roaring with laughter. They were so absorbed they didn't even notice Gordon walk in.

Alaina was murmuring, "I wonder what Skyler has been so busy with lately. He's out early and back late every day. It's already this late, and he's still not home."

Gordon walked over and spoke up. "Mom, Sis, Brother-in-law."

"Gordon, you're back," Beatrice said, looking over at him.

"Yes, I'm back." Gordon nodded slightly, taking off his suit jacket and handing it to a nearby maid. Underneath, he wore a white shirt. If anyone in the room had looked closely, they would have noticed a perfect red lipstick print right over his heart. But it was clear that Beatrice's attention was elsewhere.

She turned back to Justice. "Justice, keep going! Did your distant cousin's son really become a grandfather at thirty-six?"

"It's the absolute truth!" Justice pulled out his phone and found a video. "Look, this is from the baby's party that my Uncle Willis sent. My cousin had his kid at eighteen, and his son also had a kid at eighteen. My aunt and uncle are only fifty-two, and they're already great-grandparents."

Money keeps you young. That's why the wealthy often looked much younger than ordinary people.

Justice's hometown was in Jadeborough, a region rich in coal. If he hadn't passed the college entrance exams and come to The Capital for university, he likely would have ended up working in the mines with his relatives. Most of the local mines were family-run businesses.

Beatrice sighed dramatically. "Oh, the tragedy of it all! Some people are great-grandparents in their fifties, while others are in their seventies and not even a grandmother yet! Gordon, wouldn't you say a person like that is a total failure?"

As she said the last sentence, Beatrice looked up pointedly at Gordon.

Gordon calmly sat down beside her and adjusted the collar of his white shirt. "Mom, are you willing to bet that you couldn't find a single middle school diploma among that entire family?"
