Jonah stopped Hailey from slapping Kaia.
Hailey turned to look at Jonah. He looked back at her and spoke after a long pause. "Stop hitting her!"
He had actually told her to stop hitting Kaia—he was protecting Kaia.
Hailey yanked her hand sharply out of Jonah's grip. She wore a cold smile as she responded, "Got it. I'll listen to you, Mr. Pilsner!"
With that, she turned and walked away.
The happiest person in the hallway was Kaia. She had deliberately put on a show in front of Jonah, and to her surprise, he actually stepped up to protect her.
Who could say no to a young, sweet girl like her?
Kaia even felt a little grateful to Hailey. Without her outburst, she never would have gotten this chance to get closer to Jonah.
In reality, Kaia had only been working as Jonah's assistant for a few days, and that was all she was.
He remained entirely professional, giving instructions when needed without the slightest trace of personal interest.
To make things worse, his longtime aide, Jeremy, was constantly by his side.
It was difficult even to catch a glimpse of Jonah at work, let alone find a chance to speak with him privately.
To outsiders, she looked like she had it all. As Jonah's secretary, people liked to imagine things. In truth, there was nothing between them.
That was why she had rushed to confront Hailey today. It turned out to be the right decision.
Things between her and Jonah had advanced quickly.
Kaia looked at him, her eyes filled with soft admiration. "Mr. Pilsner, thanks for standing up for me," she said gently.
Jonah looked down at her. "No need to thank me."
"Mr. Pilsner, my family's never been well off. It's always just been me. You're the first person who's ever stood up for me. I don't even know what I did to upset Ms. Hailey. She slapped me twice, but you stepped in for me. That really means a lot to me," Kaia said as her tone laced with a soft, helpless tone.
Joah responded, "I said there's no need to thank me. I wasn't protecting you."
Kaia froze for a second. "Mr. Pilsner, of course you were. You don't need to pretend—"
Jonah cut her off. "I did it for Hailey."
Kaia was stunned.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Divorce Prescription (Celina and Adam)
Why is this writer like this! Seems it’s going to be a never ending story!!! Rebecca or Melody, why is she here again!!! Don’t these female characters move on!!! Goshhhhh...
A man with a team of invisible bodyguards that only appear on orders and disappear in time of troubles. Hmm😆🤏...
When will Hailey show that she is Adam's cousin and be ruthless? Joanne needs to be put in her place and realize Jonah does not want her. Ewan is just as bad as she is. Hailey needs to get help from Celine or Adam if she doesn't want Jonah to find out what's happening....
If the focus has to go on other characters in the book, at least make it more interesting! They were separated for three years, and still having love rivals! Especially one from the past!!! Why can’t Ewan and Joanne move in together and move on!!...
Imagine the long read if they decide to switch back to Adam and Celine. Not reading this with the same enthusiasm from the beginning....
How does anyone in their senses meet up with someone who almost hurt them and their unborn child. This author is dumb and needs to wrap this crap up. All of a sudden Hailey and kala are playing Celine and Carly's role as another character. Nonsense....
Is this still story for Celine and Adam?...
And yet again, they get away with evil!!!...
That’s gruesome to have 2 months pregnancy forcibly terminated by other characters . What kind of hospital doctors is that ?...
So until when would Hailey keep her pregnancy from Jonah...
