The moment Wyatt landed in Switzerland, he contacted Lucy.
It was just past dinner time, and the living room was cozy and warm.
Lucy was chatting with Jane, while Molly sat on the carpet with a picture book, Seven nestled obediently beside her.
The little girl was chattering away about the story, and Seven would occasionally rub the book with his tiny finger. The scene between the two children was incredibly harmonious.
Suddenly, the phone vibrated.
Lucy paused, then slid the screen to answer.
Wyatt's excited voice came through immediately. "Lucy, I'm in Switzerland!"
"Where are you now?" Lucy asked.
"Just got off the plane," Wyatt said, adding a wheedling tone. "Can you take me in for a night, Lucy? I don't have friends here, I only know you."
Lucy couldn't help but laugh, her tone light. "Of course. I'll send you the address; just take a taxi over."
She had several empty guest rooms, so one more person wouldn't be a bother.
"Awesome! Thanks, Lucy!" Wyatt's voice couldn't hide his joy.
Hanging up, Lucy sent the location.
Jane looked up at her casually. "Who was that?"
Lucy set the phone by the sofa, replying nonchalantly, "Wyatt is in Switzerland. He said he has nowhere to go, so I told him to come over."
Jane nodded.
Staring at Seven's chubby face, Kingsley's image kept popping into his head like he was possessed.
His gaze fell on the little one stacking blocks, and a strange pang of sympathy for Lucy and the child welled up in him.
He resolved silently that he would work hard in the future, at least to help Lucy carry the burden.
Thinking this, he pulled out his phone to transfer some money to Lucy. Suddenly, a notification popped up: [Card ending in 8286 has been frozen.]
Wyatt stared at the text, feeling like the sky had fallen.
He didn't need to guess to know what happened. He was so angry he wanted to rush over and punch Kingsley.
After fuming for a while, he walked over to Seven, squatted down, and rubbed the little guy's hair. "Little nephew, it's not that your uncle is cheap. Blame your jerk of a father for snitching and freezing my card. When it's unfrozen, Uncle will get you a huge gift!"
Seven didn't understand the complex sentence. He just looked at Wyatt with clear eyes and stammered out, "Un... Uncle."
