"You two aren't a match," Kingsley stated, his dark eyes heavy with judgment.
"I think we're a perfect match," Jules replied, the smile vanishing from his face. His tone sharpened, meeting Kingsley's aggression head-on. "We're both single, we work well together... I can't think of a better pairing."
He paused, then shifted his tone, adding emphasis to his next words. "Mr. Sherwood, this is a private matter between Lucy and me. You seem to care a little too much."
Kingsley looked at him, his demeanor unyielding. "Your family isn't suitable for her."
"Mr. Sherwood certainly loves to worry," Jules scoffed. "Whatever the case, it has nothing to do with you anymore. You and Lucy are history."
Kingsley's gaze darkened instantly, the air pressure around him dropping. He offered only a brief retort: "It won't work."
Without another word, he turned and walked away, his figure quickly swallowed by the heavy night.
Forty minutes later, Kingsley arrived at his temporary residence to find Shane waiting in the living room. Kingsley had kept his phone on airplane mode all afternoon; not only could Shane not reach him, but neither could the board of directors back home.
Shane had spent the afternoon fielding frantic calls, all asking the same question: When is Mr. Sherwood returning? Files were piling up, and meetings were being postponed.
Seeing his boss, Shane wasn't surprised by his aloofness. He immediately stood up, respectfully handing over a folder. "Mr. Sherwood, the documents you asked for have been organized."

The next morning, Lucy cleared her schedule to drive Wyatt to the airport. While waiting in the First Class lounge, Wyatt caught a glimpse of Kingsley nearby. His face instantly clouded over. He wanted to march over and cause a scene, but remembering Lucy's warnings, he forced the impulse down.
Instead, he pulled out his phone and angrily typed a message: [Sign me up for two classes: one-on-one boxing and one-on-one German. Arrange it ASAP.]
Wyatt smirked, making a silent vow: "Scumbag. I hope you never find out about Seven."
Kingsley, meanwhile, remained focused entirely on his laptop, frowning at a document, completely unaware of the resentful glare burning into him from across the lounge.
