"The Vice President has already reviewed everything he has authority over. These are the remaining urgent documents and the ones that require your specific approval," Shane explained, placing the files gently on the corner of the desk.
Kingsley flipped open the top folder, scanning it rapidly. As his finger traced down the page, he ordered, "Send in a coffee, and order lunch."
"Got it." Shane acknowledged and quickly retreated.
Outside the office, Shane instructed the secretary to order food while he went to the pantry to brew the coffee himself. inside, the phone on the desk began to vibrate. Kingsley intended to ignore it, but the caller was persistent. He swiped to answer, put it on speaker, and tossed it aside, never stopping his review of the documents.
Thurston's characteristically flippant voice drifted from the speaker immediately. "Mr. Sherwood, back in the Capital? I thought you were taking up permanent residence in Switzerland."
"What do you want?" Kingsley's voice was flat, his page-turning speed undiminished.
"Naturally, I want something," Thurston laughed. "Golf this afternoon. Come hit a few balls with us?"
"No time." Kingsley was concise, and he hung up immediately after speaking.
At that moment, Shane entered with the coffee. "Mr. Sherwood, your coffee."
"Leave it." Kingsley didn't look up, pointing to a stack of finished files on the corner of the desk. "Take those away."
"Yes, sir." Shane picked up the documents and exited quietly.
Kingsley took a sip of the coffee before setting the cup down and burying himself back in the work.

Ignoring his teasing, Lucy adopted a serious expression. "Get out. I need to rest."
Seeing she was serious, Jules wisely didn't press his luck. He turned and left. As the door clicked shut, he thought to himself: *Good thing I didn't say 'I want to see you,' or she probably would have kicked me out.*
This couldn't be rushed. It had to be done slowly.
Walking out to the main office, Jules asked Emma, who was organizing files, "Did Lucy's brother leave?"
Emma knew he meant Wyatt. "He left yesterday morning."
Jules nodded, asked nothing more, and walked away from the office area.
