The Ex-Wife's Triumph novel Chapter 139

"Have some confidence in yourselves," Jules said, tilting his chin toward his assistant behind him.

The assistant immediately stepped forward and distributed a stack of quarterly reports to everyone.

Jules sat at the head of the table, his smile relaxed. "Take a look. Did we exceed the targets? To be honest, I'm satisfied, but not *fully* satisfied—your potential goes far beyond this."

His gaze slowly swept across the room before he changed the subject. "The big promises I made at last year's gala... I finally have the chance to fulfill them this year."

The room instantly buzzed with excitement.

"Mr. Holt, you're really going to pay out big time!"

"We finally get to eat the cake you painted for us! It hasn't been easy!"

"Mr. Holt, I don't care about the rewards, how about the company assigns me a boyfriend?"

Everyone joked around, and Jules waved his hand with a laugh. "I'm still single myself. Where am I going to find partners to assign to you?"

As he spoke, his gaze drifted seemingly inadvertently toward Lucy, who sat quietly.

Lucy seemed oblivious, her eyes locked firmly on her laptop screen, her fingers tapping gently on the keyboard.

After nearly half an hour of banter, Jules raised a hand to quiet the room. The conference room settled down, and he finally cut to the chase.

When the meeting ended, people walked out looking deflated—clearly, the targets Jules had set for the next quarter put considerable pressure on everyone.

Just as Lucy stepped out of the conference room, Jules caught up, walking beside her. "Is Designer Lynwood not interested in the rewards I promised?"

"Wait until I meet the target," Lucy said, not relenting as she walked straight ahead.

"I'll be waiting then," Jules laughed, not pushing further as he turned toward his own office.

Emma leaned in as Jules left, her eyes alight with gossip. "Lucy, doesn't Mr. Holt treat you a little... specially?"

Lucy continued walking. "I create value. People are realistic. That's it."

Emma nodded first, then shook her head. "No, I think Mr. Holt might actually like you."

Lucy couldn't help but chuckle. "Like me? Does he want to become an instant stepfather?"

She patted Emma's shoulder. "Stop imagining things. The only thing bosses 'like' are employees who make them money."
