However, to Kingsley, the scene tasted different—in his eyes, the way they walked side by side was clearly the intimate companionship of a couple in love.
His hand, tucked in his pocket, quietly clenched until the knuckles turned white. This blinding scene was something he absolutely refused to accept.
While waiting for the elevator, Jules leaned close to Lucy's ear, keeping his voice extremely low. "Lucy, if you want him to give up completely, I can help you put on a show. Don't feel burdened; it would just be acting."
Lucy looked up at him, hesitation in her tone. "That wouldn't be fair to you."
"What's unfair about it? If it cuts off his hope, I'd actually feel relieved."
Jules spoke casually, but he had his own calculations—perhaps through this "act," he could create more opportunities to get closer to her.
Lucy looked at him deeply, then gently shook her head. "Let me think about it. I don't want to drag you into my mess."
As soon as Kingsley stepped into the parking lot, the phone in his pocket vibrated intrusively. The caller ID showed Susan.
He slid the answer button, and her questioning voice immediately hammered through the speaker.
"Didn't you arrange for a lawyer to draft the divorce agreement? Where is it? Why haven't I seen the agreement yet?"
Kingsley's tone went instantly cold, tinged with impatience. "Wait until Mr. Winston Sherwood returns. What, you can't wait even a moment?"
"Kingsley!" Susan's voice rose sharply. "All those years I spent with the Sherwoods... they'd better count for something! I want what I'm owed, and I'm not walking away like a fool the way Lucy Lynwood did!"
