The Ex-Wife's Triumph novel Chapter 203

"Miss Lynwood, please, just accept them," Phil persisted. "Even after being injured, Mr. Sherwood was worried about this. I was the one who stopped him from coming personally because I was afraid he'd pass out from blood loss."

Lucy glanced up at him, her tone growing colder. "You might as well give the flowers to a homeless person; perhaps they could trade them for a warm meal. That way, you can go back and say you completed the task, and your boss might actually accumulate some good karma."

Realizing that persuasion was futile, Phil nodded. "Very well, Miss Lynwood." He removed a card from the bouquet and slipped it through the gap in the window. "Mr. Sherwood wrote this by hand. I won't disturb you further."

With that, he turned and left, holding the undelivered bouquet.

Back in the car, Phil immediately called Kingsley. "Mr. Sherwood, Miss Lynwood didn't accept the flowers. She suggested giving them to the homeless to help them get a meal. However, I managed to leave the card in her car."

"Mmm." Kingsley's tone on the other end was calm, as if he had expected this outcome. "Do as she said. Give the flowers to them."

Phil replied with a "Yes" and hung up.

Meanwhile, Lucy's car slowly entered the manor. Getting out, she picked up the card that had fallen onto her lap. She glanced at it—the handwriting was indeed Kingsley's. The corner of her mouth quirked into a sarcastic smile. A second later, she tossed the card into a nearby trash can without a shred of hesitation.

An hour later, Peter pushed open the door to the hospital room and handed a tablet to Kingsley. "Found it. You hijacked two massive projects from this guy recently. You moved into his territory and cut into his profits—of course he snapped."
