After hanging up, Lucy remained on the balcony, completely devoid of sleep.
She knew Irma's roguish nature all too well, so without much hesitation, she dialed another number.
"Ms. Lynwood!" The voice on the other end was respectful.
Lucy's tone was concise. After giving her instructions, she added, "I'll wire half the deposit shortly. Once the job is done, the balance will be settled in full."
"Rest assured, Ms. Lynwood! I'll handle this beautifully for you!" the person promised eagerly.
Lucy ended the call and turned back into the room.
Her gaze swept over Seven, who was sleeping soundly on the bed. She didn't stop but walked straight to the desk, opened her laptop, and expertly navigated the screen to transfer a sum of money to a designated account.
About ten minutes later, a message popped up: [Ms. Lynwood, payment received!]
Closing the page, Lucy searched for recent news on The Lynwood Group—she hadn't paid much attention to it in the past two years.
After browsing through the information, a cold smirk curled on her lips. She muttered lowly, "What a waste of space. Some people are just hopeless."
With that, she closed the browser, opened her design software, and her fingers began moving rapidly between the keyboard and mouse.
Half an hour later, her phone vibrated. It was a message from Jules: [Designer Lynwood, when do you plan to come to work? Or are you extending your leave?]
Lucy glanced at the message and typed a reply: [Two days from now.]
Seven's fever had only broken last night. She wanted to stay close and observe for two more days to ensure there was no relapse.
Jules replied quickly with a single word: [Okay!]
Lucy didn't reply again and casually set her phone aside.
At The Capital, Cosmoscope Group headquarters.
At The Lynwood Group, inside Irma's office.
She was pacing back and forth like an ant on a hot pan, her face filled with anxiety.
The Lynwood Group's situation had been stable, but ever since she went all-in on a risky project, the investment failed miserably. Now, partners were knocking on the door daily to collect debts, and the company accounts were running on fumes.
What annoyed her even more was that the board of directors was starting to stir, whispering openly and privately about removing her from her position.
Just then, Aria pushed the door open, holding a stack of documents. Her voice was urgent. "Mom, there's no way through Kingsley. Why don't we try going to Old Mrs. Sherwood? Didn't she like Lucy back then? Maybe she'll help us for Lucy's sake!"
Irma stopped pacing. She furrowed her brows in thought. There was no better option right now; she had to try anything, no matter how desperate.
She gritted her teeth. "Fine! Get someone to prepare some decent gifts immediately. We'll go over there now."
Aria tossed the files onto the desk and responded with a "Okay,"
