The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 502

Lilly eyed the motorcycle, curiosity flickering across her face.

“It’s faster,” Jace said. “We won’t have to worry about traffic.”

A grin played on her lips. “This bike is so cool. I’ve never been on one before.”

Jace had expected someone like Lilly, used to riding in fancy cars, to turn up her nose at a motorcycle. Clearly, he had it all wrong.

He slipped his helmet on. “Hop on.”

Lilly didn’t hesitate. She fit the helmet over her head, her hands moving quickly. Time was tight. They had to save Ella.

“All set,” she said.

Jace swung onto the bike with practiced ease, then tossed his black jacket to her. “Wear this. The ride gets cold.”

A warmth bloomed inside Lilly. She pulled on the oversized jacket, wrapped in his scent, then climbed on behind him.

Jace revved the engine and they shot forward, the motorcycle roaring as it tore through the night.

It was Lilly’s first ride, and she immediately locked her arms around Jace’s waist, holding on like her life depended on it. Her slender form pressed close, almost melting into his back. “Jace, how did you know which hospital they’d take her to?”

Her voice was small and curious behind him.

“I saw the sticks those guys were carrying. They’re German made. Whoever sent them paid a lot. Out of the three sketchy clinics around here, the one with the most muscle is the obvious choice.”

Lilly just stared at the back of his head, admiration shining in her eyes. Every time she thought she knew him, he surprised her again.

She laughed softly, breath catching. “You’re incredible, Jace.”

She lay against his shoulder, and Jace let a small smile slip.

Then he noticed how close she really was. The soft curve of her body pressed tight against his back. He tried to scoot forward, just a bit, to give them both a little space.
