“Where are Patrick and Bernice? Where are they? Hurry up and tell them to come out!”
“Old Mrs. Zimmerman, they're at the research and development lab. What seems to be the issue?”
“Out of my way. I'm going to punish that unfilial son and rebellious granddaughter of mine!”
Millicent brought Bishop to Firebird Winery's factory area. After a bit of commotion, they proceeded to the new research and development lab.
The head of security dared not obstruct her, so he hastily called Bernice. “Ms. Zimmerman, the elderly lady from your family has arrived. She seems quite upset.”
Bernice, who was eagerly awaiting the results of Finnegan's wine brewing, quickly stepped out.
Millicent, brimming with an imposing aura, had already arrived with Bishop and a few bodyguards from the Zimmerman family.
Furrowing her brows, she said politely, “Grandma, what are you—”
Slap!
No sooner had she opened her mouth to greet her than she slapped her. “Bernice, you and your father are truly heartless. You actually instigated Finnegan to persuade the Langdon family to terminate their cooperation with Firebird Group. Do you have any conscience left?”
Millicent had already cast what Bruce had said to the back of her mind.
She was convinced that what had transpired was orchestrated by Patrick and Bernice.
With her hand covering her face, Bernice asked in bewilderment, “What are you doing?”
She and Patrick had brought Finnegan to the factory area after lunch and entered the new research and development lab.
So, she really had no idea what had happened.
But in Millicent's eyes, this was all an act. “You dare to play dumb in front of me, huh?”
She raised her hand and delivered another slap to Bernice.
However, this time, Bernice stepped back to avoid her.
“Enough! What on earth do you want to do?”
Millicent rebuked, “Are you trying to say you didn't know?”
Suppressing her emotions, Bernice asked, “What am I supposed to know?”
Seeing that Bernice didn't seem to be lying, Bishop asked in a soft voice, “Mom, could it be true, just like Dad said, that it's Finnegan's personal opinion?”
“Still, that trouble was brought upon them by their own family.” Millicent then addressed Bernice. “Hurry up and call Finnegan. Tell him to inform the Langdon family to resume their partnership with Firebird Group. Otherwise, don't you dare call me Grandma in the future!”
It was clear that Millicent, accustomed to giving orders in the past, had overlooked the fact that she was not Bernice's biological grandmother.
Bernice furrowed her brows, too indifferent to correct it.
“At the very least, I should know what happened, shouldn't I?”
Millicent grumbled, “Bishop, tell her!”
Immediately, Bishop informed Bernice of the entire situation.
Once he finished speaking, Millicent demanded, “So hurry up and call Finnegan. This whole mess was caused by your family. You must resolve it for me!”
Having understood the whole story, Bernice knew for certain that it was Finnegan who had done it.
While she was moved, she also found Millicent to be quite ridiculous. “First of all, this matter has nothing to do with my father and me. Your anger toward us is completely unjustified. And second of all, it's not necessarily Finnegan who did this. You're so sure it's him, but what evidence do you have? And third, even if it really was Finnegan who did it, I can't interfere. That's his freedom, and I have no right to dictate what he should do!”
Unexpectedly, Bernice was so resolute.
Millicent raised her hand and slapped her across the face. “You insolent girl, you've really grown bold. How dare you speak to me like this?”
Slap!
A crisp slap echoed through the air, followed by a figure being flung to the ground.
However, it was not Bernice, but rather, it was Millicent.
The one who had taken action was none other than Finnegan, who had just emerged from within.
