The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 717

Seeing the flicker of surprise on Sky's face, Sierra gave a faint smile and nodded. "Yes."

"Mr. Walker, you've always cared deeply for your sister. Maybe not everyone believes in you, but I do."

Sky looked up at her. Sierra's smile was sincere as she raised her glass slightly toward him.

"We knew each other as kids. We didn't meet often, but we were still friends in a way. Now, we've become distant strangers. I guess that's just how fate works.

"But I believe that from now on, we can slowly become closer again. From regular acquaintances to true friends. Wouldn't you agree, Mr. Walker?"

Sky still wasn't sure why Sierra had reached out to him. He gave a polite, vague smile without answering her directly. Instead, he raised his glass and gently clinked it with hers.

"Ms. Remington, you're a lady. It's better if you don't drink too much."

Sierra had ordered a bottle of wine. After the waiter poured their glasses, he quietly stepped away.

Sierra let out a soft laugh. She swirled the wine in her glass gently, her eyes growing distant. A subtle bitterness crept into her expression.

"Mr. Walker, my husband is Samuel Sinclair. I'm sure you know him. When we were living overseas, things weren't perfect, but I can't say I ever suffered.

"After coming back to the country, our life was at least as comfortable—if not more so. But somehow, our relationship just kept getting worse."

"Ms. Remington," Sky interrupted, setting down his glass. "If you've called me here, feel free to speak plainly."

He no longer smoked or drank. As someone still under probationary supervision after his release, he couldn't afford to slip up. Drinking and smoking were risks he didn't take.

Sierra didn't answer his question directly. Instead, she stared straight at him and said, "Has anyone ever told you that you're a really good person, Mr. Walker?

"I've heard a few things about what happened to you. You used to spoil your sister—your first one. And that same sister is the reason you ended up where you did."

"Emma is dead." Sky cut her short. "And I don't want to hear her name again. If you're not going to tell me why you asked me to come here, I'm leaving."

His tone darkened. He had a feeling Sierra had just called him out of boredom.

"There's something…" Sierra started, sighing softly. "I have something I want to show you."

She pulled out her phone. "Let's save each other's contact. I'll send you a document."

Sky hesitated, then eventually added her as a contact.

Once connected, Sierra sent him a file.

As he began to open it, she took a sip of her wine and said, "I'd like to ask you to help me with an investment.

"To be honest, I'm going through a divorce with Samuel. There might even be a lawsuit involved. What you're looking at is a list of all the assets my birth parents gave me.

"My father is Jonathan Remington. My mother is Melissa Sandler. Before they found me, they were among the wealthiest families in Amberton. I was only found because of Mr. Holden. You might've heard about it."

Sky didn't reply and instead focused on reviewing the document Sierra had sent.

"As for Samuel's attitude toward Sophia, I'm not sure how much you know. But maybe I should explain why I'm divorcing him."

She accepted it and wiped her eyes before continuing, "Samuel said he'd agree to the divorce if he could have not just Sophia's Sinclair Group, but all the assets my parents gave me.

"You've seen the numbers. It's no small amount. I can't give it to him.

"But let's be honest. The Remingtons are in Dithoria now. If I don't have support or someone strong behind me, I can't win against Samuel.

"I'm scared I won't be able to protect what my parents gave me. It's everything they have.

"They're getting older now. I made a poor choice in my marriage. Now, I want to ask you to help me invest. I want to make sure that no matter what Samuel tries, he won't be able to touch a cent of what I have."

"Then, why not ask Marcus?" Sky sighed. "Your father saved his mother's life. He's more trustworthy than I am.

"Ms. Remington, I'll be honest. I'm still under probationary supervision. Your trusting me is riskier than trusting Marcus.

"Besides, my sister, Natalie, is married to Marcus. She's also Sophia's friend, and you're Sophia's sister-in-law. Marcus would help you, even if just for the sake of your father's past kindness."

"Mr. Walker," Sierra started, her voice steady, eyes fixed on him. "I believe you're a genuinely good person. Others might not trust you, perhaps because they're biased. But I do.

"I remember seeing you when you visited the Sinclair family as a child.

"You were a loving older brother. You were always kind to Sophia, to me, and even to Samuel.

"I'll never forget how you didn't look down on me for being the orphan taken in by Samantha back then. Instead, you encouraged me—kindly and sincerely."
