Chapter 229: Harry Moves In

Jonathan announced, “He’s arrived. I’ll go greet him. You should get some rest.”

Estella gave a small nod and accompanied Jonathan to the door. As she swung it open, a figure was waiting near the elevator.

The man had a distinct Hong Kong flair—handsome with sharp features and pale skin. He wore a loose hoodie, comfortable jeans, and black sneakers, blending casual style with effortless charm.

“I’m spending this New Year in Javerton with you!” he declared cheerfully.

He approached Jonathan confidently, slinging an arm around his shoulders as if they were lifelong friends.

When his eyes landed on Estella, a wide grin spread across his face. “Is this your wife? You’re married? When’s the banquet?”

Jonathan rubbed his forehead, a bit exasperated. “This is Estella, my neighbor. And this is Harry, my college roommate.”

Harry beamed at Estella with a youthful, infectious smile. “Hey there! Jonathan and I stuck together through undergrad and grad school. No need for formalities—just call me Ah Hao.”

He reached into a bag and added, “Oh, and I brought ten freshly slaughtered free-range chickens all the way from Grenton, plus some dishes my grandma cooked herself. Wait a sec, I’ll grab the food from downstairs.”

With that, he headed back toward the elevator.

Estella felt a wave of warmth from his obvious enthusiasm. It was almost hard to reconcile this lively, down-to-earth guy with Jonathan, who was so quiet and reserved.

Jonathan explained, “I used to spend New Year’s in Kingston, and every year, Harry would track me down. Since I decided to stay in Javerton this time, he followed me here.”

Curious, Estella asked, “Doesn’t he spend New Year’s with his family? Why not?”

Jonathan replied, “He wants to avoid the pressure about marriage.”

Estella nodded knowingly. The struggles of single life were universal—everywhere, the same old headaches.

Harry practically moved his entire life into Jonathan’s apartment.

Once the living room was packed to the brim with his belongings, Jonathan frowned slightly.

Harry glanced around and muttered, “Your place is way too small. Not even half the size of my rental back home.”

Back in Grenton, Harry owned a dozen buildings. His main income came from collecting rent, while law was more of a side hustle for him.

He had even opened his own law office.

But his practice and Jonathan’s were worlds apart.
