**TITLE: Arrived 239**
**Chapter 239 Quarrels and Compromises**
After the credits rolled on the movie, I suggested we grab some local cuisine, something authentic and delicious. But she was adamant about trying something entirely different. It’s like she knows my limits with spice, yet she still insisted we go! I mean, really, is that fair? I had already bent over backward during the film, surrendering to her choice when I would have preferred a different genre. And then, she had the audacity to turn to me and accuse me of being controlling. Oh, really? Who’s the one actually controlling here?
To make matters worse, I mentioned that it was close enough to walk back, just a brisk ten-minute stroll. But no, she wanted to take a cab. Can you believe that? What a waste! Instead of enjoying a simple walk, she expected me to carry her like some sort of prince. I’ve reached my limit with this. Where does she get off acting so entitled?
Jonathan sat there, silent as a stone.
He felt lost for words, unsure of how to offer any advice, so he simply listened, letting the frustration spill out.
Meanwhile, Selene was pouring her heart out to Estella, her voice laced with exasperation. “Loving someone is all about compromise, right? It’s about making changes for each other. So what if it’s spicy food? It’s not the end of the world. All I wanted was a sign that he truly cares about me. He wouldn’t even carry me home! How am I supposed to believe he loves me? Yet, in bed, he promises he’d do anything for me. Turns out, it’s all just empty words. Men are such liars!”
Estella could only nod, her thoughts swirling in a mix of sympathy and concern.
She couldn’t help but reflect on Selene’s track record of relationships, each one fizzling out after just three months. This one with Harry seemed destined to follow suit, and she wondered how long it would take before it all unraveled.
But to Estella’s surprise, the next morning brought a twist. Harry appeared at Selene’s door, completely unexpected, carrying bags filled with breakfast.
Selene’s eyes widened, and she rubbed them, noticing the redness that lingered from last night’s tears.
Harry set the bags down with a casual grace. “I brought breakfast. Are you going to eat or just stare at it?”
Curiosity piqued, Selene peeked inside and gasped. It was filled with all her favorite snacks from her hometown.
Normally, when she suggested trying something different, he would scoff, insisting she didn’t know how to appreciate good food.
But today was different; he had gone out of his way to bring her favorites. She hadn’t seen that coming.
Harry smiled, a hint of mischief in his eyes. “I’m not as stubborn as you think. If you like something, I’ll make sure to get it for you. Please, don’t stay mad at me. A girl looks so much prettier when she’s smiling.”
Selene let out a choked laugh, tears spilling down her cheeks.
In the past, she had always been the one to swallow her pride and make amends first. Whenever she had a spat with a boyfriend, it was always her who caved in. None of them had ever taken the initiative to coax her back.
But this time, it felt different.
In reality, the food was secondary. What she truly craved was a sense of being valued and cherished.
Without a second thought, she walked over and enveloped Harry in a warm embrace.
And then, in front of Estella, they shared a kiss that seemed to erase the tension of the previous night.
Estella felt a twinge of awkwardness.
