**TITLE: Arrived 240**
**Chapter 240 Bennett Group’s Counterstrike**
Chris cast a quick glance at his phone, a frown etching itself across his brow. The urgency of the moment clawed at him as he hurriedly attempted to call Mr. Quinn, his heart racing with each futile attempt.
No matter how many times he pressed the dial button, the call would not connect. The silence on the other end felt like a heavy weight pressing down on him.
Kevin, leaning back casually against the wall, flashed a mischievous grin. “You can keep dreaming about working with Bennett Group, but count me out! I’m not interested in wasting my time on this nonsense!”
With that declaration, he made no move to hide his intention to leave, and Chris found himself at a loss, realizing he had no compelling reason to stop him.
What if something truly unfortunate had befallen Mr. Quinn? The thought sent a shiver down his spine, forcing him to reconsider the wisdom of collaborating with Bennett Group.
Just then, a notification chimed on his phone, breaking the tension. It was a WhatsApp message from Mr. Quinn.
“I’m tied up at the moment. The Chunk family project will be temporarily handed over to headquarters. Jeremy will contact you shortly.”
Chris felt a wave of disbelief wash over him. The resort project might not have been the largest undertaking, but it certainly wasn’t insignificant. The mere fact that Mr. Quinn had been willing to partner with him spoke volumes about the trust he had placed in Chris.
Now, Bennett Group was dispatching a general assistant from headquarters to take charge? The honor of it struck him, leaving him both flattered and slightly overwhelmed by the unexpected importance of the situation.
Without wasting a moment, he replied with a quick confirmation of his availability, and then he lunged towards Kevin, who was just about to slip out the door.
“Wait! We’re going to the meeting!” he exclaimed, urgency lacing his voice.
Kevin, still grappling with confusion, blinked at him, clearly perplexed. “Mr. Quinn got arrested! What meeting are we supposed to attend?”
Chris, his enthusiasm bubbling over, replied, “Bennett Group is filled with talent. Mr. Quinn can’t attend, but he’s sending someone from headquarters in his place. This is a golden opportunity to network with Bennett Group’s senior leadership. You can’t let it slip away!”
Kevin let out a frustrated groan, but Chris’s determination held him captive, preventing any escape.
…
Isaac picked up the phone with a sense of foreboding.
It was Mr. Quinn from Bennett Group’s Javerton branch, and Isaac made a conscious effort to keep his tone respectful. “Mr. Quinn, how can I assist you today?”
Mr. Quinn had just managed to extricate himself from a precarious situation thanks to Jonathan. Once he had settled his own affairs, he swiftly traced the smear campaign back to its origin.
As he spoke to Isaac, his face twisted in contempt. “Mr. Monroe, this isn’t how one conducts business warfare. Spreading falsehoods about me harassing a subordinate? Have you really sunk that low?”
Isaac was aware of the scandals surrounding Mr. Quinn, but he couldn’t fathom how they implicated him.
“Mr. Quinn, you must be mistaken. I haven’t done anything of the sort. I’ve always respected you—why on earth would I attempt to frame you?”
Mr. Quinn scoffed derisively. “I’ve already uncovered the truth. The person who bribed my subordinate was your sister. Wasn’t she acting on your orders? Hah. Isaac, if you want to play dirty, don’t blame me for being ruthless. We’ve all been in Javerton long enough. Everyone has skeletons in their closets. If you come after me, I won’t hold back.”
With that, he hung up in a fit of anger.
Isaac frowned, his mind racing. After a moment of contemplation, he resolved to call Isabelle.
