As Vivica sat down, she could feel the residual warmth from his body on the chair, a heat so intense it made her feel strangely flustered.
But the jumbled code flashing across the screen indicated a serious problem, leaving her no time for distractions. Her hands immediately flew across the keyboard.
“This is a ransomware virus. It’s been hitting a lot of office buildings lately,” she explained calmly, her hands a blur of motion. “If you don’t handle it correctly, every file on the computer will be lost permanently. But it’s not a problem for me.”
Joseph watched her hands, struck by their fluid, effortless grace, as if she were playing a piano. Her voice was steady, her eyes sharp and focused. The screen’s rapidly scrolling code reflected in her pupils, making it seem as if her brain was processing information at the same incredible speed.
It was only then that he truly took in her features. Delicately arched brows, bright, expressive eyes, a high-bridged nose, and soft, full lips—a classic, elegant bone structure. A tiny, faint mole on the bridge of her nose was like an artist’s finishing touch, adding a spark of life to her entire face.
She was, without a doubt, a very beautiful and intelligent-looking woman. And she clearly had the talent to back it up.
In his experience with divorce cases, the wives were usually consumed by grief, bitterness, or hysteria. Even the beautiful ones were often just empty shells, their inner strength long since eroded and shattered.
But this woman was completely different from his stereotype. He couldn’t help but wonder—what kind of man would be foolish enough not to cherish a partner who was not only beautiful and capable, but also so decisive and composed under pressure?
“Mr. Baird, the virus is cleared. I’m attempting to recover the lost files now. It should take about ten minutes,” Vivica announced after a flurry of activity, her fingers pausing for a brief moment before resuming their dance.
Joseph blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. “No rush. Take your time.”
Vivica didn’t reply, her attention completely absorbed by the screen.
In less than ten minutes, she looked up, her expression relaxed. “The files are all recovered. You should check if anything is missing.”
As she spoke, she stood up to give him back his seat.
Joseph sat down and moved the mouse, but his cursor hovered over the files without clicking.
