The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 26

“No,” Chaim said, shaking his little head and refusing the fruit. “I only want my mommy.”

Fletcher’s smile froze on his face.

Outside the room, Melanie, supported by her caregiver, peered at the little boy, her face trembling with an emotional smile.

“That child is so adorable… just as charming as Lennon was when he was little.”

Sheridan tugged at her insistently. “Let’s go. His father is in there. We don’t want to be caught looking like kidnappers.”

Since Fletcher’s back was to the door, all Sheridan and Melanie could see was his silhouette. From their perspective, the father and son were chatting and laughing, the atmosphere warm and loving.

The nanny, Ruby, returned from an errand and saw the group clustered outside the door.

“Who are you?” she asked, puzzled. “Are you here to see Chaim?”

Startled, Sheridan spun around.

“Uh… we’re looking for someone. Wrong room…” he stammered, frantically signaling for his wife to leave.

Melanie turned to Ruby and gave her a kind smile. “The little boy in there… is his name Chaim?”

Ruby’s guard went up. She didn’t answer, instead asking, “Who are you, exactly? Mr. Sanford is inside. You can ask him whatever you want.”

With that, Ruby moved to open the door.

“No, no, we’ve made a mistake,” Sheridan said guiltily, signaling the caregiver. Melanie was quickly guided back into her wheelchair, and they hurried away.

“How strange… Could that be the parents of Mr. Sanford’s mistress?” Ruby muttered to herself as she entered the room.

Fletcher, having failed to sway his son, stood up with a grim expression just as Ruby walked in.

“You take care of him. I have work to do at the office,” he said dismissively.
