"If Lennon had a child, could I do a kinship DNA test with him?"
Harvey was taken aback. "What are you talking about? Where would Lennon get a child?"
"Just answer the question."
Though confused, Harvey gave his professional opinion. "Assuming Lennon did have a child, you would be the boy's biological uncle. A kinship analysis is definitely possible, but technically, it's more complex than a standard paternity test."
"Got it."
"Wait! You haven't explained anything. Where did this kid come from? I already told you, Lennon's sample failed in the IVF process. There were no children."
"Then your investigation was flawed," Joseph stated with certainty.
"Impossible!"
Joseph didn't believe him and simply hung up.
Roderic was driving. Seeing his boss end the call, he glanced in the rearview mirror. "Boss, are you planning to run a kinship test with Ms. Lynn's son?"
"Yes. Find his attending physician. It shouldn't be hard to get a blood sample. And remember," Joseph ordered sternly, "do it discreetly. I don't want Vivica to find out."
"Understood."
With the plan in motion, Joseph turned to look out the window, the little boy's face still vivid in his mind.
No wonder his mother was so obsessed, sneaking over to see the child every day. The resemblance was uncanny. Seeing that boy was like seeing Lennon as a child all over again. Back in the elevator, he'd had to fight the urge to pull the little boy into his arms.
If that really was Lennon's son, what would he do? The question consumed him. Would the Baird family be able to claim him? Would Vivica agree?
No, his first priority, if the test was positive, would be to assemble the world's top medical team and do everything possible to cure the boy's illness. Lennon was gone, but his only legacy had to be protected at all costs.
