Joseph said nothing more. After watching for another moment, he turned and walked away.

During her lunch break, Vivica went to the hospital as she always did to be with her son. But as she reached the entrance of the inpatient building, her phone rang. It was Fletcher's father, Dylan Sanford.
Despite everything, Vivica decided to show the solitary old man a basic level of respect.
"Hello."
Dylan's voice boomed through the phone. "Vivica, I hear you're divorcing Fletcher? And you're trying to take my grandson's custody?"
Realizing the call was hostile, Vivica's politeness vanished. "It's your son who wants a divorce from me," she retorted coldly. "As for your grandson, he's the one who doesn't want him. And even if he did, I wouldn't agree."
"On what grounds? My grandson is the only heir to the Sanford family! He must stay with the Sanfords!"
Vivica winced, pulling the phone away from her ear as his shouting grew louder. "Take it up with Fletcher. Yelling at me is pointless."
With that, she hung up.
It had been a week since everything happened, and Dylan was only just hearing about it now. Fletcher must have been deliberately hiding it from him.
But now that the cat was out of the bag, she had a feeling there was more drama to come.
Sure enough, just as she got upstairs and was heading toward the room, Fletcher called.
"Are you at the hospital? My dad is demanding to see Chaim, so we're on our way over. Also, Riley said you agreed to go to the registry office tomorrow. We should meet this afternoon and finalize the divorce details," Fletcher said, his tone all business.
"Is that really necessary?" Vivica asked. "I'm letting you write the agreement however you want."
"Vivica..." Fletcher's voice suddenly softened, his tone deep and familiar. "We were married for a long time, and we had good years together. I don't want this divorce to get ugly."
