Chapter 5

The moment the lead thug saw my father storm in with armed men, his voice cracked and his body began to tremble.

“Mistersirwho exactly are you?he stammered. I- I didn’t know you were someone important.

Where’s your precious daughter? This is just an orphan with no parentshow could she be your daughter?

The lead lackey trembled uncontrollably, his legs shaking under the heavy machine gun.

Hearing this, my father chuckled darkly, bringing the gun closer to the lackey’s head.

You dare say she has no parents? You’re wishing death

upon me, huh?upon me,

The lackey quickly shook his head, suddenly having a realization. He spoke up fast.

Sir, we’re all under Nathan Carter, the heir to the Carter family. Could you do us a favor and let today’s matter slide?

We’re here on his orders, not our own.

He mustered the courage to smile, but there was a look of disdain in his eyes, thinking my father was nothing compared to Nathan’s power.

No matter how strong Nathan was, he was nothing compared to my father.

My father gave a cold snort and a smirk, mocking the lackey’s ignorance. He then casually asked,

Do

you know who I am? Nathan Carter? Hell, even the entire Carter family isn’t worthy to shine my shoes.

As soon as the words left his mouth, the room erupted in laughter.

Nathan, such a small fry, had the nerve to ask my father for a favor? The whole Carter family was insignificant compared to my father.

It didn’t take long for one of the lackeys to recognize my father.

With a shocked gasp, he said, Hehe’s Richard Sterling!

As soon as the name Richard Sterlingwas spoken, all the onceassertive lackeys immediately

froze in fear.

Who was Richard? The kingpin of Eastpoint’s underworld. No one in the criminal world dared to

cross him.

A true underworld boss, who made his name with a single punch at the black market when he was sixteen. His only weakness? His late wife’s daughter.

Because of his late wife’s kindness, he had always shown nothing but love to his only daughtera love born from the regret of her untimely death.

He even swore that anyone who laid a hand on his daughter would see their entire family wiped

out.

Suddenly, everyone realized the truth. They all turned to look at me, the only woman in the room with the surname Sterling.

It hit them. Richard’s daughter? That meantme.

The lead lackey immediately lost all arrogance and fell to his knees in front of my father.

I didn’t know, Sir. I disrespected your daughter. Please, spare me!

No one was in any doubt now. The socalled orphanmewas actually the daughter of one of the most powerful men in the underworld.

It was Nathan’s orders. This has nothing to do with us. I have a family to take care of. Please spare my life and my family’s.

The lackey, shaking with fear, kept bowing and begging for mercy. My father gripped his hair tightly, pulling his head back.

I knew that was the sign my father was about to snap. I silently closed my eyes.

I knew my father’s temper all too well. Everyone in that room was as good as dead.

Take them down! Anyone who dares touch my daughter, they’ll suffer a fate worse than death!

My father turned to look at me, a smirk on his face.

So this is what happens when you go out on your own, huh? Hah, not exactly turning out well, is

it?

around me.

In a split second, I realizedthis was bad. It was about to explode!
