The moment the lead thug saw my father storm in with armed men, his voice cracked and his body began to tremble.

“Mister… sir… who exactly are you?” he stammered. “I- I didn’t know you were someone important.”

“Where’s your precious daughter? This is just an orphan with no parents–how could she be your daughter?”

The lead lackey trembled uncontrollably, his legs shaking under the heavy machine gun.

Hearing this, my father chuckled darkly, bringing the gun closer to the lackey’s head.

“You dare say she has no parents? You’re wishing death

upon me, huh?” upon me,

The lackey quickly shook his head, suddenly having a realization. He spoke up fast.

“Sir, we’re all under Nathan Carter, the heir to the Carter family. Could you do us a favor and let today’s matter slide?”

He mustered the courage to smile, but there was a look of disdain in his eyes, thinking my father was nothing compared to Nathan’s power.

No matter how strong Nathan was, he was nothing compared to my father.

My father gave a cold snort and a smirk, mocking the lackey’s ignorance. He then casually asked,

As soon as the words left his mouth, the room erupted in laughter.

Nathan, such a small fry, had the nerve to ask my father for a favor? The whole Carter family was insignificant compared to my father.

It didn’t take long for one of the lackeys to recognize my father.

With a shocked gasp, he said, “He… he’s Richard Sterling!”

No one was in any doubt now. The so–called orphan–me–was actually the daughter of one of the most powerful men in the underworld.

“It was Nathan’s orders. This has nothing to do with us. I have a family to take care of. Please spare my life and my family’s.”

The lackey, shaking with fear, kept bowing and begging for mercy. My father gripped his hair tightly, pulling his head back.

I knew that was the sign my father was about to snap. I silently closed my eyes.

I knew my father’s temper all too well. Everyone in that room was as good as dead.

“Take them down! Anyone who dares touch my daughter, they’ll suffer a fate worse than death!”

My father turned to look at me, a smirk on his face.

“So this is what happens when you go out on your own, huh? Hah, not exactly turning out well, is

it?”

As my father reached for the sauna room door, I suddenly realized the building was warping

around me.

In a split second, I realized–this was bad. It was about to explode!

I yelled in panic, “Run! Get out of here, now!”

Just as my words left my mouth, the sauna room couldn’t withstand the heat any longer and exploded with a deafening bang.

The shockwave sent me flying, my body slammed into debris, and I collapsed, unable to move.
