The Paper Wife’s Empire novel Chapter 335

The truth was, Brantley’s team had already made the decision. Her involvement was merely a formality to keep her in the loop. After the meeting, Brantley asked about her family situation.

Ever since his subtle advance, Brianna had been guarded around him.

“The funeral is over,” she said carefully, “but there are still some family matters to attend to. I may need to stay in Havencrest City for a few more days.”

She was in a good mood. She had been prepared for a long, difficult road to reconciliation with Jotham, but things were already moving in the right direction. He hadn't mentioned the divorce, and she was confident that with a little patience, he would come around.

She didn’t want to jeopardize her career, however. She would fly back and forth if she had to, or perhaps, once Jotham was in a better state, she could convince him to move to Kyro City with her.

To her surprise, Brantley wasn't in a hurry for her to return. “That’s fine. In fact, I was about to tell you, the new branch project has been approved. You can stay in Havencrest City and oversee it.”

Brianna was thrilled. “Really? What’s the project?”

“I’ve sent you the details. It’s in the renewable energy sector. We’ll be partnering with a major player in Havencrest City’s pharmaceutical industry.”

“Covington Group?” Brianna guessed immediately. She had missed her chance to meet their representatives at the summit because of the Holt family drama and was eager for another opportunity. With the backing of the Covington Group, Gallop Inc.’s venture in Havencrest City was sure to be a success, which would solidify her position at the new branch.

Gallop Inc. was a leader in energy technology, and the Covington Group’s recent investments aligned perfectly with their interests. Brantley had been trying to establish a connection with them since they first considered expanding to Havencrest City.

“That’s right,” Brantley confirmed. “I’ve arranged a dinner for you tonight with their representative. My liaison will meet you tomorrow morning to go over the contract before you head to the Covington Group to sign.”

He was so casual about it, it was as if he were discussing the weather. He had orchestrated this major deal without her knowledge. Was it a sign of his confidence, or his cunning?
